Loci Environmental is a Botswana-based environmental consultancy and landscape architecture firm, established in 1998. Loci has undertaken a large number of Environmental studies, in a variety of projects and industries, including mining projects, infrastructure development projects, power line projects, tourism projects and commercial developments. Loci has a wealth of experience in Botswana, but has also successfully completed projects in Lesotho, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe and is able to apply this experience in other countries throughout Southern Africa. Loci has a strong team of strategic partners and specialists throughout Southern Africa to further support these activities.

When undertaking Health Impact Assessments (HIA) for major projects in Botswana, such as mining, it is crucial to engage the District Health Management Teams (DHMTs). DHMTs are responsible for running a network of health facilities, hospitals, clinics, health posts, and mobile stops as well as community-based preventative and promotive services. HIA is a practical approach used to judge the potential health effects of a policy, programme, or project on a population, particularly on vulnerable or disadvantaged groups. HIA provides decision-makers and stake-holders with comprehensive information about the consequences of interventions, policies, and projects on health (WHO).
