We strive for a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
About us
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian non-profit organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood, and enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries, driving changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. Plan International is registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission. Our Work in Nigeria We officially started operations in Nigeria in 2014 after acquiring ‘Centre for Development and Population Activities’ (CEDPA), a USA-based International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) that began working in the country in 1985. Our Ambition It is our ambition to address the root cause of the issues that girls face in Nigeria and we will be bold and courageous in doing it. Over the next 5 years, we will work to Transform Power Relations in Favour of Girls. We will not stop until 10 million girls can learn, lead, decide and thrive.

🌟 Reassess Optimistically 🌟 As the year winds down to that point where it feels like everyone’s life is perfect based on what we see on social media, it is important to take a moment to reflect with grace and gratitude. ✨ 🎯 While we celebrate the goals we've achieved, it’s just as important to honour the efforts we’ve made toward those still in progress and even those dreams we had to pause due to unexpected challenges. 💪 💡 Borrowing wisdom from Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb: “I have not failed 10,000 times—I’ve successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.” 🔥 Your setbacks aren’t failures; they’re lessons, stepping stones, and answers to questions you didn’t know you were asking. Keep the fire burning and your torch shining. You are a champion in your journey. 🏆 #PlanInternational #PlanInternationalNigeria #PlanNigeria #EndOfYearReflection #GrowthMindset #CelebrateProgress #StandWithGirls #FutureGirlsWant

#FlashBackFriday ✨ #16DaysOfActivism 🧡 As part of our activities to honour the 2024 16 Days of Activism, we hosted a Panel Discussion Conference in Sokoto State, funded by Global Affairs Canada and the European Union. This impactful event gathered stakeholders, including adolescent girls and boys, out-of-school youths, and activists like Girls Get Equal and Girls Out Loud, to demand accountability and advocate for proactive systems to end violence against women and girls (VAWG). 💡 Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Binji, Chairperson of the Sokoto State High-Level Women Influencers Association, and Nafiu Magori, Deputy Director of Child Services, representing the Hon. Commissioner for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, encouraged young people to take a stand against GBV by reporting incidents and becoming advocates for their rights, with assurances of the Ministry’s unwavering support. 🤝 Dignitaries from the Ministries of Education, Health, and Women’s Affairs, alongside Plan International staff and partners, pledged their commitment to gender equality and the prevention of GBV, declaring that: "Violence against women and girls is violence against us all." 🌍 Will you join us in this pledge to create a world free of fear and violence? Let us know in the comments. #PlanInternational #PlanInternationalNigeria #StandWithGirls 💪 #FutureGirlsWant 🌟 #EndVAWG 🚫 #16Days #16DaysofActivism #EndViolence #StopTheViolence #FBF
