Nigerian Breweries Plc, has completed its ₦599 billion rights issue programme, raising a total of ₦548.7 billion, achieving a 91% subscription rate. The Company had offered 22,607,491,232 ordinary shares at ₦26.50 per share. The transaction marks the largest equity raise in the history of the Nigerian capital market. The Company, in a statement to the NGX on 13th December, announced that it received the clearance of the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) for the allotment of 20,706,894,542 ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each at ₦26.50 Kobo per share under the rights issue. The rights issue is part of Nigerian Breweries’ business recovery plan to strengthen the Company’s capital base, by deleveraging its balance sheet, eliminating certain FX-related exposures, and reducing bank borrowings, thereby giving the Company greater financial flexibility to promote business growth and continuity.
