Changing the dialogue about women's rights and gender equality through impactful community based conversations.
About us
Her Story is a non-profit organization providing education and creating awareness about women rights issues. To achieve our aim, we disseminate information, initiate conversations, embark on advocacy campaigns and share graphics targeted at educating, Her Story Nigeria is a dynamic organization with a powerful vision: to build a network of gender equality changemakers across Africa through community building initiatives. Founded on the belief that every woman and girl has a story worth telling and that their voices are essential in shaping a more equal world, Her Story Nigeria is dedicated to amplifying these voices and driving meaningful change. Through storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement, Her Story Nigeria aims to inspire, empower, and mobilize individuals to take action towards gender equality. By sharing stories of resilience, triumph, and empowerment, Her Story Nigeria seeks to break down stereotypes, challenge harmful norms, and create a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive. At the heart of Her Story Nigeria's work is the belief that change starts from within communities. By fostering a network of changemakers who are committed to advancing gender equality, Her Story Nigeria is creating a ripple effect that will be felt across the continent. Together, we can rewrite the narrative and build a future where every woman and girl is valued, respected, and empowered to reach her full potential.

Her Story Nigeria reposted this
At the start of this year, I stood at a crossroads. On one side was the safety of familiarity that came with a 9-5 job that drained me. On the other was the uncertainty of pursuing my passion full-time. I chose the latter, and it’s been the most insightful journey of my life. This year, I poured my heart into Her Story Nigeria, my passion project, and together with an incredible community, we have created ripples of impact that I couldn’t have imagined. We’ve built safe spaces, sparked life-changing conversations, and empowered women and youth to lead change. Through our Book Lovers Club, Movie Lovers Club, Writers Club, Speaking Club, Podcast, Newsletter, Community Dialogues, and Projects, we are building a movement that empowers women and youth to lead change. Our Impact at Her Story Nigeria: - Hosted a Climate Adaptation Workshop for 50+ rural women in Toolu Village. - Launched the Speaking Club’s first cohort, empowering 17 young women. - Secured the Youth Climate Convening Grant from UMI Fund. - Implemented the #Pad100Girls Project, reaching 250+ students. - Hosted the second edition of #LagosCommunityDialogue, engaging 90+ participants Professional Milestones: - Got into 3 global fellowships. - Won 2 grants to implement and scale impactful projects. - Visited 2 countries, growing networks and partnerships. - Earned a Non-Profit Management Certification from Lagos Business School. - Quit my 9-5 and turned my side hustle into a full-time business. - Signed 4 consultancy clients with The Zentrum in 3 months. - Executed 4 major projects, reaching over 2,000 beneficiaries! To everyone who supported me and believed in our mission at Her Story Nigeria and The Zentrum this year, I am deeply grateful. Together, we’ve strengthened our community and achieved remarkable growth. 2025, We Go Harder! Let’s keep building, growing, and driving change. Cheers to an even brighter year ahead! 🥂 #herstoryng #TheZentrum #2024Wrapped #NonProfitLeadership

We are super proud of your growth and achievements in 2024, Angel. Let's do more together this year! ❤️❤️❤️
Today is the last day of 2024 🥳 This year saw me experience incredible growth as a writer, editor and journalist and I remain proud of myself. It was also the year that I tried entering into community management roles and I started plans to open a cooking business called Aviazu's Kitchen. This year: 🌺 I became a regular fiction contributor to magazines like Tales and Whispers. 🌺 I was the Associate Editor on a literary project called Stories of Lagos. 🌺 I was selected from over 300+ applicants to be part of a training for female journalists and this saw me get a certification from Bayero University. This training saw me meet some of my Linkedin connectons like Oluwakemi Adelagun in person. 🌺 My story "Nkiruka or What Lies Ahead Is Greater" was shortlisted for The Random Photo Journal Creative Writing Award. 🌺 I grew my women only community to over a thousand members. 🌺 I was invited to be a public speaker by organisations like Her Story Nigeria and I spoke about the lives of my grandmothers which I've always wanted to do. The above are just a fraction of what I was able to accomplish this year. I am grateful for the gift of community and the gift of having people who continually recommend me for opportunities. Truly, I flew on eagle's wings in 2024 and I am aware that 2025 shall bring nothing but growth that will take me upward and onward. To more 🥂 https://lnkd.in/dXYpMyPZ

It's been a busy year for us at Her Story and we are sorry that we could not continue our yearly tradition of physical hangouts this year. However, we will be having a community-wide virtual hangout this Saturday at 7pm Nigerian time. Whether you are a member of our book club, movie club, writers team, etc, you are welcome to join us as we unwind after a long and tedious year. Also, don't forget that in January we have our Vision Board Party primarily for Lagos residents. For those who would love to join virtually, please register your interest as well and we will do our best to accommodate you! On Saturday, I'll drop the link on this group and also send reminders all through the day so you don't forget. Thank you for being a part of our community! Cheers to the incoming year! 🥂🥂🥂
