Milestone Achieved! 🎉 In August, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and add a new experience to my life. When I came across an Instagram post about GENZiFy Africa ‘s VET Academy program, I knew it was an opportunity worth exploring. The journey began with the Vibe Session, which was far more relaxed and enjoyable than I had imagined. From there, things only got better! The program officially kicked off on September 16th, and I promised myself to give it my all, regardless of other commitments. Looking back, I loved every moment—from being one of the three Veters selected to work with the organization, to acquiring valuable knowledge in project management and beyond. I am incredibly grateful to GENZiFy Africa and the facilitators for creating this initiative to empower Gen Zs with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in the workforce. Most importantly, I’m proud to share that my efforts paid off as I was named the Valedictorian of the inaugural cohort of GENZiFy Africa's VET Academy! Here’s to more growth, learning, and success. 🌟

Writing my final exam at the University of Lagos was undoubtedly one of the major highlights of this year for me. Shortly after, as I scrolled through Instagram, mentally shelving learning for at least a few months, I stumbled upon an ad for the GENZiFy Africa Vet Academy Summer Cohort. Intrigued, I decided to register. A few days later, I received an acceptance email, followed by an invitation to an online vibe session and my admission letter days later. After attending that first vibe session, I knew I was going to give it my all. Despite the demands of work, I committed to attending classes and completing assignments diligently and that’s exactly what I did. The journey came to an end on the 7th of December, marking the end of an incredible chapter. It’s an experience I am deeply grateful for. One key takeaway from this journey is that learning can truly be fun. Thank you, GENZiFy Africa, for this amazing opportunity! GENZiFy Africa

Early this year, I had my directorial debut working across board with business owners, creative's and Gen Z's. A big thank you to GENZiFy Africa for making me the Creative Director on this project, which gave me the oppurtunity to create fascinating contents around female menstrual hygiene. This experience was rewarding and I had a lot of fun shooting and directing for what felt like 50 hours. If you count from 9am to 8pm this pretty much sums the shooting time frame. I would like to say a big thank you to my supportive creative community starting with the incredible Zainabu Malabu who is building YONKI. To know more about the GENZiFy Africa Whitebox project, please visit their website, which would also provide you with enough information on how to donate to this cause. Donations would help hundreds of girls, in secondary schools in rural communities, get the warmth and care package they need as their uterine walls shed monthly. Thank you to everyone who contributed to my directorial debut, which is engraved in my heart.

Senior communications executive curating stories with a focus on research, policies, finance and the development of creative industries.

In 2018, I attended the Abuja Literary + Arts Festival (ALitFest) for two days at the Abuja Exhibition Pavilion, discovering bookstores that sold the types of books I could enjoy, rather than the thrift or motivational books I was used to. At the event, I met a fellow John Green fan and exchanged e-copies of Let It Snow and Will Grayson, Will Grayson for Turtles All the Way Down (John Green’s latest book at the time). I also had the opportunity to pose for a portrait by “ I Can Draw Africa,”. The festival also featured a film panel with STEVE GUKAS, whose words left a lasting impact on me. He shared a quote that I have carried with me ever since: “A mind which once expanded can never shrink back to its original size.” This insight highlighted the transformative power of expanding one’s horizons. This was essentially my introduction to the Abuja Literary Society (ALS). I resolved to give back and support this community, which felt like a safe space. Although initially I was occupied with NYSC and other commitments, I made time to attend open mics at Hilton Abuja whenever possible. Around May in 2021, an opening for a Communications and Administrative Assistant at ALS presented itself, and the timing was perfect. This role allowed me to support my favorite literary community in Abuja. During my time with ALS, I learned how to create and design newsletters as well as handle multiple whatsapps groups (disseminating information regularly) among others. By 2023 I became the communications lead, responsible for onboarding and training new communications & administrative assistants, leading the communications team which also consisted of graphic designers. I also had the honor of hosting several ALS Book Jams which helped me work on public speaking. From January 2024 to July 2024, I coordinated ALS Book Jams officially, this included guest invitations, themes/topics, hosting and host assignments. I also spearheaded a return to physical Book Jams after the pandemic’s virtual tradition. Volunteering with ALS provided me with invaluable experience. I collaborated closely with the festival team in 2021 and 2022, including curating a runway show and hosting a pre-festival book jam and reading circles. Leaving ALS in July 2024, as the Director of Communications, Grants, and Philanthropy, marked the end of a transformative era for me. My departure is to enable me better focus on commitments such as YONKI Abuja and Aloinett Advisors, the latter being led by the former curator of ALITFEST Teniola T. Tayo. In summary, giving back to the community through volunteering not only enriches your own life but also expands your network and opens new opportunities. My final Book Jam was a memorable hybrid event merged with the GENZiFy Africa Sip and Flip at L’Nest restaurant, 7th floor of Barcelona Hotel—a perfect way to conclude my journey with ALS. Thank you ALS!
