🌱💡 During the Forum: "Applications of RES in Construction," organized by #BAUAcademy, Stanislav Andreev presented the opportunities unlocked by energy communities to increase the share of RES in urban environments through attracting private financing. The presentation focused on the main benefits of energy communities, as well as concrete examples from the pilot initiatives in #Gabrovo and #Burgas, which are already implementing these solutions within the framework of Life TANDEMS. Despite challenges such as lack of political support and the need for real legislative reforms, these issues are being addressed through innovation and collaboration between local institutions, residents, and the private sector. #EnergyCommunities #EnergySharing #RenewableEnergy #LifeTANDEMS

🌿The 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is a transformative opportunity for EU Member States to create a comprehensive framework for building decarbonisation. By 2050, the goal is a zero-emission building stock, and the EPBD is key to getting there. Key elements for successful implementation include crafting coherent policies, enhancing data collection, upskilling the workforce, and establishing financial instruments tailored to diverse needs. #EPBDwise #policyneeds #decarbonisation
🌍 NEW REPORT! What is needed for effective EPBD implementation? 📥Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/ec8ejgzA The 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is more than a set of policies - it’s an opportunity. By creating a coherent framework for building decarbonisation, it allows Member States to take a holistic approach to renovations and craft a long-term vision for achieving a zero-emission building stock by 2050. This report provides critical insights into what Member States across EU need to leverage the flexibility of the EPBD and design integrated policies that work together to overcome barriers, align targets, and deliver impactful results. 🔑 Key policy needs include: ➡️ Crafting a coherent policy framework effectively using National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs) to align measures and targets. ➡️ Timely and inclusive planning that ensures public participation. ➡️ Enhancing data collection to inform data-driven policies. ➡️ Upskilling the workforce to meet EPBD’s objectives. ➡️ Establishing financial instruments tailored to diverse target groups’ needs. ➡️ Monitoring social impacts, especially on vulnerable households. When policies interact and reinforce one another, their combined impact is greater than the sum of their parts. This report offers a summary of what Member States need for designing comprehensive and consistent policy packages to accelerate building decarbonisation across the EU. #EPBDwise #policyneeds #decarbonisation

🎓 Equipping Local Leaders for a Sustainable Future Last week, municipal leaders from across Bulgaria came together for an intensive three-day training dedicated to energy efficiency and building renovation. This initiative brought together mayors, council members, and local government representatives to explore sustainable practices and innovative solutions in the context of the National Resilience and Recovery Plan and leading EU policies. The training was organised together with the Bulgarian School of Politics and provided practical guidance on assessing the building stock, developing renovation strategies, and leveraging financial mechanisms to implement impactful projects. Discussions also underscored the essential role of local governments in driving sustainable change and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders. 🤲Participants left with not only enhanced knowledge but also valuable connections and actionable ideas to shape the future of their communities. Through initiatives like this, we aim to strengthen the capacity of local authorities, enabling them to implement effective solutions for energy-efficient and resilient municipalities that prioritize sustainability. #necplatform #renocally #NetZeroHero nZEB Ready #sheerenovplus #ourcee #DiVirtue ComActivate Project

Setting up energy communities with citizen participation goes far beyond just dealing with administrative issues... Grateful to be collaborating with Gabrovo Municipality for many years now, and for making this idea for the energy community an actuality. Check out the latest video from the energy community below👇
Creating the legal framework ⚖️ is just one of the many challenges European communities face when setting up energy communities with citizen participation ☀️. Beyond legal hurdles, there's the question of public engagement 🗣️, financing 💰, and, as we see in the case of Gabrovo's first energy community, finding a suitable location 📍. We thank Todor Popov and his team from Municipality Gabrovo and Daniela Dimitrova, Director of the Municipality Landfill in #Gabrovo for the interviews and, above all, for their commitment to making Europe and its communities a little greener 🌱. #LifeTANDEMS #CINEA #energytransition #energycommunity #localenergy #renewableenergy #Europe #sustainability #climatechange #Gabrovo #Bulgaria

For almost 2 years, local authorities in Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia have been working to implement Building Renovation Passports (BRPs) as part of the #Renocally project. But, what have they learnt and what challenges they encountered along this journey? On a workshop organised last week in Bucharest, project partners shared their lessons learnt and key takeaways after implementing BRPs in municipalities to achieve deep renovation. Our two main highlights are: 🖊️ It is key to be part of a consortium that helps collaborate, share knowledge and build capacity. 🖊️ Local authorities can be key players to decarbonise the building stock, but more resources and expertise are needed, as well as long-term goals and planning. Read in more detail about all the sessions in the workshop👉https://lnkd.in/e4K5G-VF #Renocallynews #EUKI #EPBD
