About us
WEB Aruba is the only water and energy production company on Aruba. We desalinate seawater through a combination of Multi-Stage Flash Evaporation and Seawater Reverse Osmosis, (our desalination plant will soon move to 100% SWRO-desalination). WEB Aruba is also the sole distributor of drinking water on the island. WEB generates energy through a combination of turbine generators, wind turbines and RECIP engines. We deliver this energy to our sister company, local energy distribution company, NV ELMAR. Our vision is to operate a 'Cleaner, Greener and Fuel Oil Free' facility by the year 2020. Moving ahead we are initiating projects we consider to be reliable, affordable and sustainable; in keeping with our requirements for our end-products. Projects currently in development include: Waste to Energy/Biogas, thermal Ice Storage cooling and Underwater Compressed Air Energy storage.

Last December 3, 2024 WEB Aruba and Wärtsilä Finland Oy signed the agreement for the RECIP Phase 3 DG-7 Replacement project. The agreement entails the replacement of Engine DG-7 in the RECIP Phase 3 plant, which was affected during the fire on April 16, 2024. It includes delivery of a new engine and generator and repair of the affected part of the structure of the DG-7 Engine Hall. The replacement is necessary to restore the energy production capacity of RECIP Phase 3 back to its original capacity, before the incident caused by the fire. With the RECIP Phase 3 plant back to its original capacity, this helps increase WEB's spinning reserve in order to meet the current and growing energy demand on our island. Also, with the DG-7 engine back in service, this will help reduce usage of the 20 MW mobile plant of "Bredenoord" which went into operation in August 2024. The project has a duration of approximately 10 months and is planned to be completed by the end of September 2025. #webaruba #wärtsilä

On October 31, 2024 WEB Aruba and Wärtsilä Finland Oy signed an agreement for the 'RECIP 3 Expansion Project,' which includes expansion of the RECIP III plant with two engines. This is an increase in the current capacity by 36 MW. With this expansion WEB will reach a total of 230 MW (installed capacity) of RECIP engines. This was celebrated during a ceremony on November 8 in the plant workshop at WEB in the presence of colleagues and guests. The project is necessary to meet growing demand for energy in the medium term. As is known, in August 2024 WEB implemented the 20 MW mobile plant to meet the demand for energy in the short term. In addition, WEB is exploring possibilities to install batteries to store energy. Our experts are aware of the imperative need to continue exploring and studying ways to facilitate the expansion of renewable energy in Aruba. The goal of these initiatives is to meet the growing demand for energy, now and in the future. The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2026. #webaruba #expansionrecipphase3 #wärtsilä
