On Saturday 16th November, 2024, our team at SPE Cares MUST students chapter under the leadership of SPE cares head volunteer Akito Rebecca and the Vice President Mirembe Josephine Phoebe made a significant impact on the lives of street children in Tatitwe, Mbarara. We reached out to the street kids with essential items like food, clothing, sanitary towels for the ladies, and most importantly, 10 130l water tanks to address their critical water shortage for proper hygiene and preparing food. Beyond material aid, led by the Chapter membership chair Melvin Ssempa we empowered a group of young girls by teaching them valuable life skills, of liquid soap-making. This skill can provide them with a sustainable income and a brighter future rather than depending on donations. Perhaps the most heartwarming moment thanks to our Faculty administrator FORTUNATE OGENE, was reuniting a 14-year-old boy with his family. After facing hardship and homelessness for 6 months strunded on the street, he is now safely back home in Nakivale Refugee Camp, ready to pursue his education. Together, we can make a difference. Let's continue to support initiatives that uplift vulnerable communities. Appreciation to the Mbarara University of Science & Technology students community, Lecturers and Administratiors for the contributions that made the day a success.
