We Strive for a just world that advances children's rights and equality for girls.
About us
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian not for profit organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

Highlights from the 7th National Girl Summit Today at the 7th National Girl Summit under the theme “Fostering Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All,” Plan International Uganda’s Country Director, Phoebe Kasoga, Co-Chair International of Girls Not Brides Uganda, reiterated the importance of empowering young girls: “True leadership shines when young girls and women take charge, driving meaningful change. Empowering them builds stronger, more inclusive societies.” Hon. Lilian Aber, Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief, and Refugees, emphasized economic empowerment as a cornerstone for girls’ progress: “Every girl can pursue her dreams regardless of barriers. An empowered girl will choose the right man at the right time.” Girls from the She Leads program inspired the audience with their participation in the summit’s panel discussion, sharing personal stories of resilience and how the program has supported them to achieve their dreams. As we unite to eliminate child marriage and promote girls’ rights, this summit marks another step toward building a future where every girl can thrive. #GirlsSummitUg #EmpowerGirls #EndChildMarriage
