 Exciting Developments in Northern Uganda! We are thrilled to share the impactful work happening under the POWER FOR AY Project, led by Save the Children International in collaboration with Green Home Plastic. This initiative is empowering youth across the districts of Amuru, Nwoya, and Omoro through innovative solutions that intertwine environmental sustainability and economic development. Recently, 22 youth groups have been qualified to participate in a groundbreaking wastepreneurship initiative. These passionate individuals will engage in collecting plastic waste from various community events—market days, football matches, weddings, and more. Their efforts not only help tackle the pressing issue of plastic waste but also provide a vital source of income. By selling collected plastic waste to Green Home Plastic, these youth groups will enhance their savings, improve their farming and animal-rearing projects, and ultimately change their lives for the better. What's more, Green Home Plastic will recycle this waste into eco-friendly products, such as flakes and building materials, contributing to a greener future. 🌍 Driving Sustainability with Local Innovation! 🌱 Today, I had the privilege of engaging with a group of talented Biosystems Engineering students from Gulu University who approached me with an impressive proposal for a **Material Recovery Facility (MRF)**. Their initiative aims to tackle waste management challenges in Gulu City by reclaiming value from waste and promoting sustainability.  During our discussion, I shared my thoughts and insights on their idea, which focuses on:   ✅ Collecting waste from communities.   ✅ Sorting recyclable and decomposable waste.   ✅ Processing materials for reuse, such as cleaning plastics for recycling.   ✅ Distributing the recovered materials to recyclers and other stakeholders.  Their commitment to advancing sustainable practices aligns perfectly with the mission of Green Home Plastic —to turn waste into valuable resources while empowering communities.  I was truly inspired by their vision and dedication to making a difference.
