𝑨𝙄 𝙎𝒆𝙩 𝙩𝒐 𝑹𝙚𝒔𝙝𝒂𝙥𝒆 𝑭𝙞𝒏𝙩𝒆𝙘𝒉 𝑳𝙖𝒏𝙙𝒔𝙘𝒂𝙥𝒆, 𝙎𝒂𝙮𝒔 𝑬𝙭𝒑𝙚𝒓𝙩 𝘿𝒂𝙫𝒆 𝑩𝙞𝒓𝙘𝒉 David Birch, a commentator on digital financial services, delivered a thought-provoking keynote address at the 6th annual Financial Technology Service Providers Association (FITSPA) conference in Kampala. Birch highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the fintech sector, predicting significant disruptions in the near future According to Birch, AI is poised to replace humans in key decision-making roles within financial institutions. He noted that AI's capabilities in specialized areas are rapidly advancing, potentially surpassing human expertise in certain domains In the realm of financial services, Birch emphasized AI's potential to revolutionize compliance processes. He pointed out that fintech companies currently spend 50% to 70% of their resources on compliance activities. AI-powered systems could significantly reduce these costs by automating tasks such as anti-money laundering (AML) checks and know-your-customer (KYC) procedures However, Birch argued that the true disruptive power of AI lies in its potential to transform consumer financial management. As AI becomes more accessible through tech giants like Google, Apple, and Facebook, it could radically alter how individuals manage their money. AI assistants could continuously optimize savings, maximize interest earnings, and make intelligent decisions about credit card usage Looking ahead, Birch envisioned a future where robot-to-robot transactions become commonplace in financial markets. This shift could fundamentally change how banks market their products and services, with AI systems becoming the primary target audience rather than human consumers #AIinFintech #FinancialInnovation #FutureOfBanking #AIDisruption #DigitalTransformation

Congratulations🎊 and Welcome back to the game, Pivot payments Your story of perseverance is truly inspiring to the Fintech ecosystem.
WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS AND READY TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING! It has been an exciting Monday at Pivot Payments offices in Kampala as we hosted journalists from various media houses to a press conference to brief them about resuming our operations after 281 days following the lifting of our suspension by Bank of Uganda. Pivot Payments Founder and Managing Director, Princess Shamirah Kimbugwe seized the opportunity today to inform journalists that, having worked alongside the Bank of Uganda team on key corrective measures; the central bank found it satisfactory to reinstate Pivot Payments licenses on the 4th of December effective immediately. “On the 29th of February 2024, Our Payments Service Provider (PSP) and Electronic Money Issuer (EMI) licenses were suspended by the Central Bank of Uganda, citing several issues in operations, gaps in governance (Our board was not fully constituted) and capital where our trade volume had superseded the capital reserves. We want to appreciate the National Payments Services (NPS) team at Bank of Uganda that while they had the prerogative to be antagonistic, they chose to be corrective and collaborative,” Princess Shamirah Kimbugwe said. She noted that the engagements have been a learning curve for both institutions and the industry at large especially with the regulator's unwavering risk-averse approach to the industry aimed at consumer protection. Shamirah also pointed out key industry issues relating to the Financial Technology space which remain relatively young with many of the players experiencing strict regulation for the first time. “This means oversights and mistakes are bound to happen. The most important factor is the regulator’s willingness to guide,” she remarked. Pivot Payments is no stranger to tough times. Having been born a few days before the now infamous Covid 19 curfew in 2021. Pivot early days as a company were in the confines of a living room and sometimes bedrooms. Despite this humble beginning, the company has over the years registered over 100,000 customers and cumulatively traded over UGX 72 Billion, with more than 1.4 million transactions since its inception. As a fintech business, Pivot Payments is a leading example and case study that while many businesses are registered annually, few survive the 3rd anniversary as we plan to celebrate 5 years this coming February. “We will continue to provide payments (collections and disbursements) Wallet services for safe keeping of money and consolidate our UAE corridor as the only company that focuses on providing tailor made financial solutions for our young ladies and gentlemen serving in the middle east, as well as serving the business class (SME) here in Uganda," she explained. Princess Shamirah Kimbugwe assured customers that customer data and the company’s systems remains safe. As a female-founded fintech, she hopes this can inspire more women to join the field.
