    Opto Engineering´s PCBP probes are used to inspect hollow objectsdown to 5.5mm whose hidden features can only be controlled by introducing a probe into the cavity. The catadioptric (refracting + reflecting) optical design ensures much higher resolution than fiber-based probes and enables the complete 360° inner view of the entire cavity. Built-in illumination keeps the device very compact and makes it suitable for simple 3D applications by means of panoramic triangulation techniques. The PCBP series also features new models with integrated Optotune liquid lenses for immediate focusing at different working distances (PCBP-AF).     National Future day at Optotune   Last week Optotune Switzerland welcomed a fantastic group of young visitors to spend the Swiss national future day with us. On this day, children from the 5th to 7th grade can accompany their mother or father to work for a day and since 2001, the National Future Day has encouraged young girls and boys to learn about new career perspectives, unbiased of gender stereotypes and prejudice in the workplace to gain practical insights into careers that are focused on their interests and talents.   Through hands-on activities including RnD workshops to inspire an interest in engineering where children built their own Lego pieces, demonstrations on how our optical lenses work and connecting with our employees through interview sessions, the children learned about the dynamics of working at Optotune.   We hope this day introduced a new prospective career to the children, filled them with interest in our work, and sparked inspiration in the youth of tomorrow!

    I had the possibility to test the combination of a Basler camera and a liquid lens from Optotune together with MERLIC. Thanks to standards like GenICam all components works quite smooth together. The connection within MERLIC was straightforward. After testing the connection, I wrote an acquisition sequence which allows me to grab images with different focus settings. With the corresponding recipes I can easily switch within the application to the corresponding focus distance. Enjoy the video. #merlic #optotune #basler-ag #GenICam #MVTec
