Cardiac arrest is a time-sensitive and life-threatening situation. At the airport we aim to have adequate number of staff trained and certified to provide first aid especially in emergencies such as a cardiac arrest when medical help is on its way and time is of the essence. We’re pleased to share that beginning this week and the next couple of weeks, up to 60 of our employees will be trained and certified by Saint John Ambulance to provide First Aid and also to use portable defibrillators. Other staff will be trained at Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport soon. We’re grateful for the wonderful initiative and the generous support of the Rotary Club of Port Moresby who are sponsoring this important training and also supplying six portable defibrillators through the St John Ambulance. These life-saving devices will be strategically installed inside the terminals at both airports and will be vital in saving lives during cardiac arrest emergencies. Here's a video highlight of the first training. https://lnkd.in/gmyABJDU

  • Safety and security of passengers and aircraft is paramount here at NAC. This week, we’re pleased to see the Airside Operations Division of the Port Moresby International Airport, (Jacksons) receive a new Safety Vehicle to support the important work they do in managing crucial safety requirements for aircraft operations. Airport Safety Officers will use this new safety vehicle to conduct daily inspections of the airfield, parking bays, taxiways, runways, and other airside areas to support aircraft movement, marshalling, ground handling, close coordination with pilots, ground crew and air traffic control to ensure safe movement of aircraft on the ground. By carefully checking and inspecting critical areas on the airside, Airport Safety Officers can identify and address potential hazards like Foreign Object Debris (FOD), surface damage, and faulty airfield lightings. The Airport Safety Officers will also use the safety vehicle to help detect and deter wildlife, such as birds, that could pose a collision risk to aircraft. The new safety vehicle will complement the current one which has been used for six years. #AirportSafety #Aviation #PortMoresby #JacksonsAirport #SafetyFirst
