With cross-border trade increasing in complexity, digitalisation is more crucial than ever. The UK-Southeast Asia Trade Digitalisation Pilot, building on the first ever fully digitalised goods shipment, which landed in Singapore from the UK in September 2023 following the UK’s ratification of the Electronic Trade Documents Act, is paving the way for more efficient trade through electronic transferable records. How can this collaboration further transform global markets and what are the barriers to adoption? During GTR Asia 2024, Martin Kent (Department for Business and Trade), alongside a distinguished panel, including Louise Beazor (British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham), Simon Middlebrough (Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited (SAESL), Andie McKeown (LogChain), Zak Lawton (British Embassy Bangkok), and Nimisha Tailor (E-nomics), shared their perspectives on these initiatives and the future of digital trade. GTR extends its thanks to all participants for driving conversations on the future of trade digitalisation at GTR Asia 2024.
