  • The need to protect our planet has never been more urgent, and it's a responsibility we all share. 🌍 From reducing emissions to promoting #RegenerativeAgriculture, we at Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) are committed to transforming our relationship with nature. 💚 🌱 By decarbonising our operations and supporting farmers in improving soil health, optimising resources, and producing more with less land, we’re taking tangible steps toward a sustainable food system that benefits both people and the planet. 🤝 But protecting nature requires collaboration. Other than multilateral partnerships with private and public players, regulations and subsidies need to be shaped to incentivize GHG emission reductions and support sustainable farming practices for increased food production and improved food security. Discover how we’re driving change and why protecting nature is crucial for the future! 👇

  • We are thrilled to share that Yara India has been recognised with two prestigious awards at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) 4th edition Sustainable Agriculture Summit & Awards!    Yara India was honoured for best practices in the following categories:  👨🌾👩🌾 Sustainable farmer income enhancement – by delivering tailor-made, hyperlocal crop plans to our farmer network.  🌱💡 Initiatives on agri-based decarbonization – for driving sustainable gherkin production across South India.    These innovative solutions helped to enable #RegenerativeAgriculture, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve farmer livelihoods.    At Yara Africa & Asia (YAA), our mission is to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet. • Tackling soil health in Kenya through #ThryveInnovationCoLab 💡    Did you know that it is estimated only 20% of Kenya’s land is arable? Bill Ngeno, Yara Kenya Country Manager, elaborates, “63% of the 20% arable soil in Kenya is acidic, so we have to really invest in soil amendments to make sure that the soil pH is right for crops to thrive.” 🌱    We recently held a workshop with the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) in Machakos County to discuss this very topic and to draw clear actions on how to multiply our impact together. 🤝   Discussions are ongoing with KALRO to collaborate on the development of a National Soil Information Database for Kenya. With our agronomic knowledge, resources, and data analysis expertise, Thryve aims to support KALRO in validating soil health data and jointly create actionable recommendations to enable data-driven policies improving soil health and soil fertility. 📱   Building this digital soil map will enable various use cases and enhance livelihoods in Kenya. As an innovation orchestrator across the food value chain, Thryve is working to set innovators, start-ups, and companies up for success through an accelerator program.   Combining our existing digital and physical infrastructure to reach smallholder farmers and our extensive on-the-ground network, we are excited to join forces with KALRO to grow a thriving food future in Kenya. 🌍

  • Congratulations to Yara Thailand for winning the Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) Operational Excellence Rewards & Recognition Program! 🎉 This program was launched for the first time this year to identify and recognise operational excellence related ideas and initiatives in YAA and support employees to contribute towards continuous improvement at Yara. Receiving a total of eight inspiring nominations across the region, YAA colleagues were then able to cast their vote in the shortlisting process. In the end, Yara Thailand came out on top with the FarmCare app launch and their outstanding work to digitalise various commercial processes! 📱 Yara FarmCare has digitalised Thailand’s agriculture industry, reduced waste and carbon footprint, and made crop nutrition knowledge accessible to smallholder farmers and the agriculture community. The FarmCare app was also recently launched for iOS users in October, marking a significant expansion of Yara’s digital portfolio, enabling reach to a wider audience, and providing more farmers with access to a trusted advisory platform. 🌱 At YAA, we have been on a journey to build a culture of excellence, and we are excited to drive positive change. #YouAreAmazing #FarmCare

Soils are the foundation of agriculture and our food system. In fact, 95% of our food relies on healthy soils. 🌱 However, soil degradation threatens the foundation of life on Earth. This is why we're shining a light on the importance of soil health this #WorldSoilDay and showcasing how Yara Vietnam is tackling this issue!   🌾 Vietnam’s economy is significantly influenced by soil health. With farming covering 84% of its natural land use, soil health is facing immense pressure from unsustainable practices. 🤝 Committed to improving soil health through innovative solutions, Yara is working with Vietnamese farmers to ensure the future of agriculture by focusing on crop quality and productivity.   👨🌾 We’re proud to be empowering farmers in Vietnam, supporting them by regenerating soil health, improving crop resilience, and contributing to a circular economy through solutions like YaraSuna organic fertilizers. • Yara supporting the green agricultural transformation in China ⬇️ Supply chain plays a crucial role in ensuring access to nutritious food for the world’s population. Fernanda Lopes Larsen, EVP Yara Africa & Asia (YAA), shares in a video interview, “Any supply chain disruption greatly impacts not only our business, but more importantly, it severely impacts food security in the world and farmers’ livelihoods.” 🌱 Participating in the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (#CISCE) last week, Yara China gathered with other industry players under the theme of “Connecting the World for a Shared Future.” 🌏 Rejane Souza, SVP Global Innovation, Roberto Puzzo, SVP Yara China, and other colleagues took this opportunity to highlight how Yara’s crop nutrition solutions and innovative technologies are supporting the green transition in agriculture and the food value chain. Partnerships are key to driving agriculture’s green transition, as no single player can do it alone. Yara has built strong partnerships in China over the years. As part of our commitment, Yara China signed the “Joint Initiative for Addressing Climate Change in the International Agriculture and Food Sector” with more than a dozen exhibitors. 🤝 Together with collaborators, we strive to lead a food system transformation towards a more resilient and #sustainable supply chain in China and beyond. • Inclusion Grows Employee Spotlight: Meet Frida Wathome! 🌱🌳 In honour of International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, meet Frida Wathome, a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Manager based in Kenya! 🌟 Frida, a proud ‘autism mum’ to her 15-year-old son, is a passionate advocate for inclusion, particularly for neurodivergent individuals like her son. 💙 Through her journey, she has experienced a lack of inclusion through the discrimination her son faces due to his autism. She shares, “This experience changed my outlook on life and spurred me towards greater empathy. Now, I acknowledge everyone’s unique experiences and avoid making assumptions based on stereotypes.” Instead of being discouraged, Frida has risen above it with empathy, learning to respect differences and challenge stereotypes. 💪 Despite the challenges, Frida finds strength through the support of her family, colleagues, and her son’s school. She takes pride in being a spokesperson for her son and others like him, sharing educational resources and pushing for accommodations that enable autistic individuals to live a full and meaningful life. At Yara Africa & Asia, Frida grows inclusion by raising awareness about neurodivergence, sharing her lived experiences, listening to those who feel marginalized, and creating safe spaces for open discussions on inclusion. 🤝💬 #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities #InclusionGrows #DEI #YouAreAmazing

  • Hidden hunger: did you know that as of 2022, about 768 million people are undernourished according to the World Bank, with populations in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa being the most affected? 🤔 Committed to addressing nutritional challenges, Yara India has proudly partnered up with HarvestPlus Solutions to improve the nutritional quality of crops in rural communities, focusing on staple crops. The program pilot phase started with zinc wheat cultivation in five districts across Uttar Pradesh, India. 🌾 The NutriFarms program not only enhanced nutrition through better crops but empowered farmers to adopt advanced #RegenerativeAgriculture practices, helping to increase yield and resilience to environmental stresses. This supports food security and uplifts livelihoods in the community. ✨ As the program concludes, the bundling of biofortified seeds with smart zinc fertilizers led to a significant increase in zinc and iron content in the harvested crops. Additionally, participating farmers reported an average income increase of around 42%*! 📈 At Yara, we are committed to transforming agriculture from the ground up, focusing not just on yields but on the nutritional value of the food we grow. “This isn't just about increasing productivity; it's about cultivating a future where every harvest contributes to healthier lives and stronger communities,” said Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director, Yara South Asia. Join us on our journey to advance agricultural sustainability in Africa & Asia! 🌏🌍 Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/guPcTb3A *The figure provided is based on controlled, limited trials conducted with farmers, observed by field partners and enumerators.
