Preparing Singaporeans for global leadership roles

About us

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and managed by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), the Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN) was launched in July 2022 with the purpose of preparing Singaporeans for global leadership roles. We aspire to help advance the social capital of Singaporean corporate leaders who can support one another on their professional and personal leadership journeys - whilst cultivating a vibrant and robust community. This is achieved through activities that enable members to learn, lead, and link including through large scale in-person events, smaller business networking sessions on various topics of interest, a structured mentoring programme, an Ambassador programme, as well as an online LinkedIn community. SGLN is open to all Singaporean working professionals and supporters of the cause. You can register for free today at our website sgln.hcli.org or by clicking on the button above!

  • 'It takes a village' to nurture and support Singaporeans leaders. At the Singapore Leaders Network (SGLN), we aspire to be that village. 🌏 Our mission to prepare Singaporeans for global leadership roles is closely aligned with the government’s vision of creating a globally competitive workforce. A recent article in The Straits Times delves into why some Singaporeans embrace overseas postings while others hesitate. Why some don't take the leap: - Family commitments and the desire to stay close to loved ones. - Concerns about adapting to new cultures and environments. - Career prospects and job security in familiar local settings. Why some do: - Opportunities for personal and professional growth. - Exposure to different markets and business practices. - The chance to develop a global mindset and network. Understanding these dynamics, SGLN is committed to creating a supportive community that encourages our members to seize global opportunities. By fostering a strong network of globally-minded leaders, we can advance the social capital of Singaporean corporate leaders and support their professional and personal leadership journeys. Join us in our mission to cultivate a vibrant and supportive community of leaders ready to take on the world. • 🎓 Congratulations to Our Pioneer Batch of SGLN Fellows! This week, we celebrated a significant milestone as the pioneer cohort of 60 SGLN Fellows officially graduated at a momentous ceremony held at the National Gallery. We were honoured to have Mr. Cheong Boon Png, Chairman of Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), join as our Guest-of-Honour to present the graduates with their well-deserved certificates conferring them as SGLN Fellows. We were also honoured to have Prof. Arnoud De Meyer, Chairman of Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) and a global leader in the world of academia, make opening remarks to the cohort. A special moment of the night was presenting the STAR Award to five outstanding Fellows for their incredible contributions throughout the programme: Alvin Wee for his unwavering presence and support at every Fellowship event, Michelle Khoo and Joel Shen for their memorable performances during our 2nd Anniversary Debate, Robin Pho for collaborating with us to bring in exceptional speakers, and Jesse James Jalleh, who was selected as Cohort Representative. We also celebrated the outstanding MA(CE)² team, who received the ALP Award, for most impactful action learning project. Congratulations to Alvin Wee, Clinton Goh, Colleen Chow, Elaine Teo, Malminderjit Singh, and Tan Eng Hwa for their stellar project efforts, supported by our dedicated SGLN Ambassadors, Mei Yee C. and Alister Ong. Our evening was made even more special by a heartfelt speech from our Cohort Representative, Jesse James Jalleh, who captured the essence of the Fellowship experience with warmth and gratitude. His message: embrace our Singaporean identity and use it to our advantage on the world stage. To the Class of 2024—you’ve set the bar high, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything you’ve achieved. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see all the incredible things you’ll do! #SGLN #GlobalLeadership #Classof2024 #FellowshipGraduation

  • SGLN closed the year with an unforgettable event at the National Gallery Singapore, featuring global leader in leadership coaching and best-selling author, Dr. Marshall Goldsmith. This event marked a historic moment as Dr. Goldsmith shared that this would be the final international keynote of his long and illustrious career, giving this session extra meaning. For the audience, this event was nothing short of transformative. Centred on Dr. Marshall's groundbreaking concept of “feed-forward,” he illuminated how this approach to learning, coaching, and team building can empower leaders to thrive in an ever-evolving world. He redefined leadership as not just climbing higher but lifting others as we rise and letting go of what no longer serves us. His call to focus on what we can do, rather than dwelling on what is out of our control, resonated deeply with everyone in the room. Dr. Goldsmith's blend of wisdom, humour, and deeply personal anecdotes captivated the audience, making the session interactive, relatable, and profoundly impactful. We are ever so grateful for this global icon to have chosen the Singapore Leaders Network event as his international finale, and for sharing an AI version of him that can be accessed for free on https://lnkd.in/ghew8Ec9 Special thanks to Ian Wong, MD International UOB for sharing his leadership lessons and his personal insights at the event. In his opening remarks, Ian highlighted the critical role leaders play in enabling the future workforce, reinforcing that it is a shared responsibility for all leaders to prepare their teams for the challenges of tomorrow. We are grateful also for the dynamic panel discussion moderated by Dr. Peter Chee, President & CEO of ITD World. The panel featured Aseem Puri, CEO of Unilever International; Frank Koo, Founder & Director of Nextplay; and Peck Kem Low, CHRO & Advisor (Workforce Development) at Public Service Division. Together, they shared insights on how Singaporeans can lead on the global stage, drawing on their own rich global experiences. We are immensely grateful to our SGLN Strategic Partner, UOB, for making this extraordinary afternoon possible. Thank you to all who joined us for this incredible journey of learning and reflection. What a way to end the year! 🌟 #SGLN #Coaching #GlobalLeadership
