As part of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Finance, Singapore Customs' ongoing efforts to address key challenges including regulations, both agencies have collaborated to facilitate smoother cross-border movement of goods. From 1 January 2025, traders only need to apply for a single transhipment permit for land intermodal transhipments. This streamlined procedure is expected to benefit businesses significantly through cost savings and time efficiency. This initiative supports Malaysia and Singapore’s efforts under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) to strengthen economic cooperation and improve movement of goods between Singapore and Johor.
