The group of companies in Singapore held their Annual Dinner & Dance on 15 November 2024. More than 280 employees from all five companies in Singapore attended the event themed - Around the World. Almost everyone dressing up in costumes or traditional clothing that represented various cultures (and even jobs) around the World. Close to 40 employees also received their Service Award during the event for their 5/10/15/20 years of service with the companies. The Family Day 2024 for Singapore affiliates was held on 31 August 2024, at the highly raved Bird Paradise. About 300 employees and their loved ones gathered at the amphitheatre for a morning of fun and laughter. To kick-off the event, Mr Takayuki Inagaki, Managing Director for Mitsui Chemicals Asia Pacific, gave a welcome address to all. A private show was also arranged by the venue, bringing much joy as the parrots sang away. A mini campaign was also setup but what was it? Congratulations to the National Day Awards recipients for 2024! Their names were revealed on 9 August – and special recognition goes to Dr. Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens, and Mr Tsutomu Tannowa, Chairman of the Board at Mitsui Chemicals Group. They have been conferred the Public Service Star (Distinguished Friends of Singapore) award! Siemens has been in Singapore for over 115 years. Under Dr. Busch’s leadership, Siemens in 2023 announced an investment of S$290m in a high-tech factory that will serve as its hub for Southeast Asia and create over 400 jobs, in addition to its existing 1,500-strong workforce. Dr. Busch is also the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) and has served on Singapore’s Research Innovation and Enterprise Council since 2020. Mr Tannowa, Mitsui’s Chairman and former President and CEO, is a strong champion for the company’s growing presence in Singapore. The company has expanded its investments here to over S$1b since it first established operations in Singapore in 1966. As Mitsui’s key manufacturing base outside Japan, Singapore is home to the company’s elastomers and Prime Evolue plants. Led by Mr Tannowa, Mitsui also set up its first and only R&D centre outside of Japan in Singapore, working closely with A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research and other local partners to develop advanced materials, as well as chemical and biotechnological processes that are greener and more efficient. We look forward to deepening our partnerships with Siemens and Mitsui to fuel #innovation, create jobs and drive economic growth in #Singapore!

The group of companies in Singapore organized a company trip to the Land of Smiles (Bangkok, Thailand) from 12 to 14 July 2024. More than 100 employees collectively from the five companies joined in the trip. This was the first post-pandemic company trip for the employees in Singapore. This was also the fourth time that Bangkok was chosen as the destination for the company trip. In Chiba, I was given the chance to visit and network with the HR members at Mobara Branch Factory and Vision Hub Sodegaura too. This short-term overseas training opportunity boosted my confidence in workplace interactions with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
