🌿 New Life into Discarded Furniture: Cultivating Sustainable Business Value 🌿 🎉 🎉🎉The Finals and Award Ceremony for the Bulky Waste to Wonder Competition 2024, organized by J.O.E Eco Alliance in collaboration with the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) and the Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE) - Character & Citizenship Education Branch, held successfully on October 27 at South Beach Tower. 🎉 🎉🎉 🏆 This year’s top prize was awarded to The Play Haven Table, a remarkable design by students from the School of Science and Technology, Singapore. They creatively transformed an old desk into a multifunctional game table for pool, table tennis, and card games, inspired by the need to foster connections in a modern world often distracted by digital interactions. The competition showcased the incredible creativity of our youth, challenging conventional ideas while raising awareness about environmental protection and resource recycling. 🎖️ As the Guest of Honor, Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, also experienced the design, Sofy-Sofa, created by students from Bedok Green Secondary School and highly praised the competition for fostering sustainable practices among youth, encouraged students to redefine used furniture, recognizing its value and finding innovative ways to redesign and repurpose it to extend its life. During the exhibition, multiple organizations adopted most of pieces of furniture designed by students, demonstrating the tangible business value of recycling unwanted bulky items, indicating the meaningfulness of the event. Different partners also discussed about potential collaborations on-site and established a mutual intention for multi-party cooperation to pursue this initiative together to promote the circular economy, creating value for the company and positively impacting society's sustainable development. #Sustainability #Innovation #YouthEmpowerment #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalAwareness #JOEEcoAlliance #SingaporeEvents #EcoFriendlyDesign #GreenFuture #PHCSG #YearofPublicHygiene #KeepSGClean #MOE #SouthBeach #PeaceofArts #E3Design #JLL #SCA #WeLead #TechArt

🌿 BULKY WASTE TO WONDER 🌿 Harnessing the creativity of children to unlock tangible business benefits through recycling unwanted bulky furniture items. J.O.E Eco Alliance, in partnership with the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) and the Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE) - Character & Citizenship Education Branch, is excited to host our second innovative event. The unique nature of this event is that children are not restricted by things in the same way that adults are - and we were able to unlock incredible creative solutions. Many of which can be replicated in our industry of furniture and fit-out and are also scalable to maximise impact. The students received guidance from industry professionals, including Paul Borrett from E3 Design Pte Ltd, Elli Wang from SCA Design, and Jeryl Yep from Semula Pte Ltd, Daniel Chow from TechArt, Chay Huan Yin from Welead during an educational training session on the design process. We believe that the creativity and imagination of young people can inspire others to reconsider their waste disposal habits, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle in Singapore. 🏆 This year, we received almost 70 entries from 13 secondary schools, an increase of more than 50 entries compared to last year. 10 most creative designs advancing to the finals! 🎖️ We are delighted to share that Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister for Sustainable Development and Environment, Ministry of Transport, Singapore is our guest of honour this year. 📅 🕘📍The final judging and awards ceremony will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm on 27 Oct at South Beach Tower, Lobby, 38 Beach Road, Singapore 189768. We extend our gratitude to Eunice Yeo from Peace of Art SG and Samantha Tan from South Beach Consortium for providing such a wonderful venue to showcase the outstanding work. The 10 finalists are now on display in the Lobby of South Beach Tower. Public voting is now open, and we invite everyone to join in! Just like the entry you think is the best. Voting will close on October 26, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Together, we can raise awareness and drive action in the area of sustainability in Singapore. This initiative represents a collaboration between the public, government, education, and industry, all working together for the common good. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all partners who supported this competition. Their collaboration has created a platform that merges creativity with sustainability, paving the way for a cleaner, greener Singapore. Feel free to contact us at JOS to learn how these principles can be applied to our industry and projects. Stay tuned for an upcoming article by JOS detailing how we implemented these ideas in our recent project for the new BCA office. #Sustainability #Innovation #YouthEmpowerment #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalAwareness #JOEEcoAlliance #SingaporeEvents #EcoFriendlyDesign #GreenFuture #PHCSG #YearofPublicHygiene #KeepSGClean #Sustainability #MOE #SOUTHBEACH #PEACEofARTSG #E3Design #SCA #Welead #TechArt #Samula

We had an incredible time welcoming over 90 students and 7 faculty members from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Design & Environment (DE) to JOS & Sunon Experience Center on May 15, from 2-3:30 pm. As part of the DeX (Design & Environment Experience) program, this event introduced Year 1 students to the dynamic industries of Design and Built Environment. 🌟 An Illuminating Evening at JOS Experience Center: Unlocking Wellness Through Vision and Light in Workplace Design 🌟 On Thursday, 25th April, close to 100 guests, subject matter experts and industry leaders, eagerly shared and explored the latest cutting-edge information on enhancing workplace experience and wellbeing with creative solutions for lighting, visuals, and furniture. JOS Experience Center was transformed into an experiential theatre, where knowledge was exchanged, guests enjoyed traditional Chinese tea - prepared with grace and expertise by JOS CEO Zhou Haiyan, a vocal performance, and fabulous food and drinks. JOS partnered with Humanscale and LUXSPACE.BIZ to curate and deliver the evening's knowledge-sharing and entertainment. Feedback from the event has been overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing their appreciation for the evening. Specifically, being able to come together to discuss the benefits of good lighting and proper ergonomics. The event began at 6 PM with guests welcomed at Tuan Sing Holdings Limited Executive Lounge, adjacent to the JOS Experience Center. Guests were able to network, enjoy canapés and drinks, as well as enter a lucky draw. There were different stations set up as small stages—the first one focused on lighting. Actors demonstrated how lighting influences the look and feel of spaces and materials, as well as how it can impact wellness in the workspace. Lighting can energize, illuminate to the correct lux levels for the task at hand, and calm and soothe you in a breakout or well-being space. Highlights of the next station included: - AERO Manager Desk: Combines the elegance of luxury yachts with advanced ergonomics, featuring radar sensing and advanced controls for optimal health. It sports a sleek, customizable acrylic design with integrated power solutions for a clutter-free workspace. - Humanscale Path Chair: Offers unique weight compensation and eco-friendly materials for ultimate comfort, featuring ergonomic armrests and FormSense Eco Knit for adaptive lumbar support. - Nova Light: Provides 180-degree rotation with steady, glare-free lighting, built with durable hinges to maintain position and enhance workspace lighting.
