The battle against climate change will be won – or lost – in cities. With two-thirds of global energy consumption and more than 70% of annual global carbon emissions, lowering emissions and making more effective use of energy in cities is crucial in reaching the goals of the Paris Agreement. Danfoss’ impact paper offers a clear roadmap for decarbonizing cities and how existing technologies can bridge half of the gap in the urban greenhouse emissions needed for a 1.5°C pathway. After 12 years of leading Danfoss Power Solutions (DPS), Eric Alstrom has decided to move on to another chapter in his career: “After having a great time in a company I love, and with fantastic colleagues, I want to make a change in my career. This has been discussed for some time, and I agreed that I would stay on for the launch of the evolved business model and the midterm planning. DPS has the perfect new leader in Daniel Winter, who is well-known and recognized for excellent leadership throughout Danfoss, and he will use a solid foundation to take DPS to the next level,” says Eric. Daniel Winter, currently CFO of DPS will take on the role as DPS Segment President effective January 1. Ensuring a smooth and effective transition, Eric and Daniel will share their formal leadership hand-off with customers and distribution partners during the first quarter 2025. Eric says: “Danfoss has transformed tremendously, especially in the last five years. Merging the Eaton Hydraulics with DPS has been the highlight of my career. Together, we’ve solidified our role as a leader in hydraulics, which remains core to Danfoss.” Daniel played a critical role in driving the financial strategy and ensuring DPS’ performance during strong growth and challenging market conditions. Passionate for the mobile and industrial hydraulics business as well as electrification, Daniel says: “I’m excited to build on our strong foundation, great products and solutions, excellent customer relationships, and a fantastic and talented team with a history of delivering great results. While the market presents challenges, we’re prepared to navigate them and take our business to the next level.” Watch the interview video with Eric and Daniel in our office in Hamburg, Germany: https://lnkd.in/eGKAU_ff Read more in our press release: https://bit.ly/49Jlxp1 #Danfoss #DanfossPowerSolutions #LeadershipChange #WeareDanfoss #Transformation #Innovation #LeadershipMatters

The rapid build out of renewable energy is a bright note on the global climate goals agenda. However, our current energy system is simply not ready for all the renewable energy we are planning to produce. The safe and reliable operation of the future energy grid requires us to place energy efficiency center stage to work in harmony with the build out of renewables. Energy Efficiency 2.0 demonstrates how electrification, demand-side flexibility, wise use of hydrogen, and deployment of excess heat must all come together as necessary elements for a cost-efficient transition to net zero. We don’t need magic – the technologies already exist. Now is the time for action. By decarbonizing our own global operations, we apply the same approach we offer our customers. We call it Reduce, Reuse, and Re-source, and we’re using it to achieve our own carbon-neutrality goals by 2030 across 100+ operations. ✅ First, we apply energy-efficient solutions to reduce energy consumption and increase machine productivity ✅ Second, we reuse energy through energy recovery and sector coupling ✅ Third, we source any remaining demand from clean energy sources such as renewable electricity and green hydrogen. Read Danfoss Sustainability paper below to learn more about our three-step approach and discover more about how we decarbonize our operations here: https://lnkd.in/gqC88yrP #DecarbonizationExplained #Decarbonization #ESG #Energyefficiency #Greentransition #Climatechange #Sustainability #DecarbIndustries #DecarbTransport #DecarbBuildings #DecarbEnergysystems #Energymix

Harnessing the earth's energy for a sustainable tomorrow A leading logistics company in Denmark has achieved a breakthrough in heating and cooling its 300,000 m² facility. By integrating Danfoss Climate Solutions’ Turbocor® compressors with a geothermal system designed by Energy Machines™, they are now using 100% renewable energy. The result is a system that can meet the logistic center’s heating and cooling needs, while significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. This case demonstrates how companies that don’t have the possibility to feed excess heat back into a district energy grid, still can benefit from capturing and reusing excess heat within their own facility. Together, we’re engineering solutions for a better future. Decarbonization isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s also good business. In our latest Danfoss Impact paper, we highlight the major economic savings that decarbonization, electrification, and energy efficiency can bring. By saving on these costs, companies can free up vital funds needed for investments in R&D and innovation. We’ve identified multiple existing solutions that can be applied immediately across industries to limit energy waste, promote electrification, and boost competitiveness, especially in energy-intensive industries. Optimizing industrial motor efficiency in the EU alone could save €9.5-10.7 billion in electricity costs annually, while avoiding the equivalent annual CO2 emissions of up to two million European citizens. Did you know that excess heat can play a pivotal role in transforming our urban energy landscapes? In the EU alone, excess heat amounts to 2,860 TWh/y, nearly matching the EU’s total energy demand for heat and hot water. At Danfoss, our solutions enable the reuse of this energy onsite or its sale back to the grid, transforming heavy energy consumers into major energy suppliers. As we approach a global population of 9.8 billion by 2050, energy efficiency is more critical than ever. District heating is a proven, efficient, and cost-effective way to reduce carbon emissions from buildings and industries. Cities worldwide are embracing innovative district heating projects utilizing diverse heat sources like waste heat, geothermal energy, and even body heat. The widespread adoption of district heating can significantly contribute to global decarbonization goals. It's time to recognize excess heat as a valuable resource, not waste. Learn more about how district heating can transform urban energy landscapes in this article: https://lnkd.in/eggZTCUR Read our impact paper to discover how excess heat can be harvested and reused. #DanfossImpact #EngineeringTomorrow #Innovation #Sustainability #ExcessHeat #DistrictHeating #Decarbonization
