VC<->Start-up Connect organized by Cointelegraph was a well-curated speaker-wise event I attended last week with 400+ individuals contributing to the current Web3 vibe and discussing the current state of the industry. I must say what I enjoyed the most was the panel discussion moderated by Juliet Su 苏丽 (NewTribe Capital) on “VC Outlook on Web3: Emerging Trends and New Market Horizons” with: - Aly Madhavji - Managing Partner at Blockchain Founders Fund - Nenter Chow — Ventures Investments & Head of Portfolio at Animoca Ventures - Marek Sandrik – Principal at Rockaway Capital - Philipp Caspers-Pabst - Senior Associate at Dubai Future District Fund - May Liu - Managing Partner at ZeroStage Conclusions: 🔵 There needs to exist some BASE EXCITEMENT the VCs identify to start the discussion with the project founders; time is too precious and there are thousands of projects trying to say ‘hi’ to fund managers 🔵 Appreciate Nenter’s approach on Animoca Ventures’ focus on consumer products and noticing the increasing trend & need of developing game-like prediction markets within new ecosystems 🔵 Potential risk of a bubble in the VC ecosystem on AI- and blockchain infrastructure-related projects was raised what surprised me to some extent 🔵 Liquidity challenges on the market were mentioned - this is a big one - I’ve heard it 100+ times already “there’s no liquidity on the market” while we’re gonna need it to keep the market growing Let’s see if anything changes after the 🇺🇸 US elections
