About us
The Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative exists to catalyse the development of globally responsible leadership and practice in organisations and societies worldwide. It is the leading incubator for innovation and new practice in business schools and for collaboration with business in the space of ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. We bring together an international multi-sector community – leaders, practitioners, professionals, academics and the next generation – to create awareness of the need and urgency for responsible global action and to equip individuals, organizations and societies to respond to this call. GRLI is not a think tank or a member-serving organisation. It is a think-and-act enabler; a global community of responsible action with the ultimate measure being its aggregated impact. We operate as Communities of Responsible Action (CoRAs), meeting physically and virtually, focussed on initiatives that result in new knowledge and practice.

🌍 Highlights from GRLI’s 2024 Annual General Meeting - a preview🌟 On 4 December the GRLI community gathered for our AGM—a moment to reflect, reconnect, and align on our shared mission of catalyzing global responsibility. Our Chair, Peter Møllgaard, set the tone with an opening reflection on the power of collaboration and ecosystem stewardship. His remarks, shared below, offer a glimpse into the conversations that followed. Thank you to our Partners, Associates and Strategic Partners for stewarding this work and driving GRLI’s mission forward. Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) reposted this
This week the partners & associates of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) once again gather (virtually) for our Annual General Meeting or "All Gathering Momentum" (as it has been repurposed by the Foundation). Whilst it is very definitely the GRLI's AGM you will see on this graphic (borrowed and adapted from something that Giles Hutchins presented many moons ago - thank you!) that our logo is only one small but connected part of several pathways focussed on developing #GlobalResponsibility. At the heart of GRLI is a fundamental and thought-provoking question: What is global responsibility? From that flows even more questions: What does it look like in practice and leadership? How do we cultivate and develop it in ourselves and others? Holding these questions and helping uncover and build pathways that embody viable responses to it is our work. GRLI does not claim to have all the answers, but we are unwavering in our commitment to asking the right questions and to exploring them with openness and curiosity. I look forward to the rich conversations and the input that shapes the mode and direction of our work. We will post a recorded extract on youtube as per usual!

What qualities do we value most in leaders or leadership —and are they the ones we truly need? Karen, Armand, and Sarah recently helped spark a wide-ranging dialogue on leadership, power, and systemic transformation by bringing their own questions. Karen Blakeley raised following question: How can we sustainably place emotionally and spiritually mature individuals in senior leadership positions? Without this maturity, systemic change struggles to take root. Dr. Armand Bam provoked us further by confronting a hard truth: Why does supremacist thinking continue to prevail in institutions and societies? And Sarah Elliott Spencer asked us to dream bigger: What would it take to create conditions that empower everyone’s innate potential to build a positive future? These questions challenge us to rethink the systems shaping leadership, particularly those in Business- and Management Education. One theme emerged very clearly: The way we define and reward leadership profoundly shapes our institutions and communities. From prioritizing profits over empathy to rewarding self-serving traits, are we perpetuating systems that undermine collective well-being? We’d love to hear your thoughts. What systemic shifts do you think are necessary to unlock collective potential and ensure leaders are truly prepared to navigate today’s complexities? Let’s continue the conversation! 👇 Recording of the whole session : https://lnkd.in/ddPUvNbG
