The students of Emergent Leuven helped us to create a first prototype of on-device automated video game testing. This project was a great learning experience for the students, not only to develop this prototype but also about project management and communication with clients. We will us this as a basis to streamline the development of our new voice-controlled video games.
Last Thursday marked the end event of Emergent Leuven x Say It Labs project. The project was about automated video game testing, specifically for Stutter Stars game which is the world’s first video game developed using AI and speech pathology science to help children who stutter. The project has 3 parts: 1. Device Control - Control the device programmatically with Mouse and Keyboard 2. Text Detection - Identifying the text (from image) that needs to be spoken in certain game states 3. Text To Speech - Play back the corresponding audio of detected text The project was done by 3 people, including me. My responsibility in this project was to solve text detection. In order to solve it, I implemented an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) AI model that recognize and extract text from screenshots of the video game. My colleagues, Everton Miguel and Maedeh Palideh has solved device control and text to speech respectively. I would like to thank my colleagues for a positive, fun, collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment. Also, I would like to thank Emergent Leuven and Say It Labs for providing us with this opportunity. This project provided me with valuable hands-on experience in developing AI solutions for real-world challenges. It also enabled me to identify and address knowledge gaps that might have been overlooked without the opportunity for end-to-end implementation and debugging. I am currently pursuing my Advanced Master in AI at KU Leuven and conducting research thesis in the STADIUS department under the supervision of Professor Bart De Moor. My thesis, titled “Designing a Multimodal AI-Based Decision Support System for Medical Diagnostics Using Integrated Visual and Textual Data” focuses on developing AI-driven solutions to enhance medical diagnostic processes by combining visual and textual information.
