  • Following our kick-off meeting in August in Brussels, PIANC InCom WG 255 - 'Structural Re-assessment of Existing (IW) Hydraulic Structures' convened on 10-11 December in Hamburg. 12 members attended the meeting in person, while 3 members joined remotely from the UK, Vietnam, and China. With only 3 members absent, we achieved significant progress despite the challenges posed by time zone differences! The Table of Contents for our report is now finalised, well-structured with clearly defined subsections, and detailed content outlines. This milestone reflects the group’s strong collaborative spirit and commitment. The Working Group has grown remarkably closer on both professional and social levels. On Thursday, we held our meeting at the BAW in Hamburg. On Wednesday, we were privileged to conduct our final work session at the Scharnebeck ship lift, followed by a technical tour of the facility. Evenings were spent together exploring Hamburg's hidden gems, thanks to Babje’s local expertise. On Wednesday evening, we enjoyed visiting several 'Weihnachtsmärkte' (Christmas markets). Overall, the meeting was highly productive and enjoyable, fostering both professional development and team bonding. Our next meeting will take place on 13-14 May in Antwerp.
