Offering solutions in strain measurement, model validation and automated calculation of mechanical material properties
About us
As a measurement tool, Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is becoming an accepted technique in both industry and academia, as it allows full field, contact-less, 3D-measurement of deformations at the surface of any type of material and under arbitrary loading, combining ease-of-use with high flexibility. As MatchID’s tagline is “Metrology beyond colors”, we seek to offer the DIC system of the future, by adopting a module-based structure, where the focus lies primarily on the metrological aspects: - Optimal test setups and processing: patterns, experimental tools and automated post-processing - Interpretation of results in a quantitative way, focusing on resolution and spatial resolution, with integrated error assessment - Direct integration of external scripts and programs, independent of coding language - AppStore for sharing of knowledge throughout global MatchID community - Enabling direct, quantitative comparison to numerical models - Full-field stress reconstruction, well beyond standard elastic behavior - Direct identification of material properties through the Virtual Fields Method (VFM) - Customized application development - In-depth training: annual courses by experts in the field While the MatchID platform can be used simply as a measurement tool, it expands on this by seamlessly integrating virtual fields methodologies (VFM) which allow the direct identification of mechanical properties from the captured DIC images. This is done without the need for coupling to external FE software or time-consuming updating algorithms. In summary, MatchID can support all stages in the engineering process from determination of material properties towards extended model validation.

This week was very exciting! We could introduce our brand new fracture mechanics module and share our recent developments related to material identification at the Metal Plasticity seminar organized by Dr. Steven Cooreman from OCAS NV and Prof. Sam Coppieters from KULeuven. Moreover, it was enjoyable to gather again with the colleagues and friends from the VFORM-project! Great organization and great atmosphere. Also interested in our powerful new features ... the one week countdown to our novel release starts now. #MatchID #DigitalImageCorrelation #MaterialIdentification #FractureMechanics

In line with our vision at MatchID - "Metrology Beyond Colors" - we are excited to announce the publication of our latest research in Experimental Techniques. This work offers practical guidelines for performing digital image correlation (DIC) uncertainty quantification from the view of validation finite element models. With this, we take a step towards developing a generic and quantitative DIC-based model validation approach. This research was conducted in collaboration with the KU Leuven Mecha(tro)nic System Dynamics (LMSD) group. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship for funding this work. https://lnkd.in/eAiKwwzg
