On December 2, 2024, the Ministry of Primary Industries in New Zealand(MPI) reported to WOAH that a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak of the H7N6 subtype had occurred in New Zealand. The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) also issued a warning notice on December 2, 2024, entitled "Notice on Preventing the Spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in New Zealand" and included New Zealand on the list of "Countries and Regions Prohibited from Importing Animals and Their Products from Animal Disease Epidemic Areas". #AvianInfluenza #NewZealand #GACC #MPI #WOAH

⏰ Today’s update on EUDR: 1 year postponement seems likely now. ✍🏻 Between now and the end of year it seems like a procedural process, rather than a (less predictable) political one. But, still, officially it can still go in all directions. 🎢 Other agreements / promises, related to EUDR, which came out of yesterday's trialogue: ‼️ No further changes to EUDR's content Other than the 1 year postponement no further changes will be applied (at this stage). ‼️ 'Emergency Brake' Parties agreed that if the country risk benchmarking is not available at least 6 months ahead of 29 Dec 2025 (i.e. end of June) or the on-line platform is not operational for companies by Dec 2025 the postponement may even be extended further, if and as needed. ‼️ Assessing possibilities for lowering administrative burden European Commission promised a future assessment of simplified requirements for countries that have demonstrated effective and sustainable forest management practices.
