Last month at the Flanders Make Symposium, we had the opportunity to showcase our collaborative efforts with Flanders Make and MOBI Electromobility Research Centre: 💡 Digital Siblings for Fast Evaluation of Asset Variants Demonstrated on a Drivetrain Setup The design, development, and validation of new product variants can be time-consuming and costly. Our DT4V framework addresses this challenge by enabling virtual validation through “digital siblings,” which build on the digital twin of an existing asset. This approach allows companies to confidently evaluate design changes—ranging from minor adjustments to major redesigns—without the need for repeated physical prototyping. With this method, redesign iteration cycles can be significantly reduced, while providing insights into the richness of operating data and uncertainty of performance predictions. Our demo featured an 11kW drivetrain, where we evaluated two design changes: 1️⃣ A mild redesign with an updated winding configuration. 2️⃣ A full redesign with 15kW power for higher torque. The predictions of the digital siblings were compared to the real redesigned machines, showing the effectiveness and time savings of the presented workflow. Thanks to Karel, Mehmet and Niels Divens for bringing this demo to life! 🤝 Let’s connect if you’d like to learn more or discuss potential collaborations! #DigitalTwins #DrivetrainTechnology #ProductDevelopment #GhentUniversity #FlandersMake

🏭 Is your company struggling with a #data challenge? Our colleagues from FlandersMake@UGent are looking for companies where their 'Master of Science in data-science for business'-students can perform an internship targeting data challenges. The goal of this programme is to support your business strategy and decisions while creating data analytics specialists. The programme is considered an internship, but with a very strong guidance from the professors at Ghent University. It has been shown that the students' results have led to business implementations and, in addition, new employees. In short: ➡️ What? Internship for MaNaMa students in data science ➡️ Goal? Supporting business strategy and decisions ➡️ When? Start in April 2025 ➡️ Cost? 20.000€ (ex. VAT) ➡️ More information? https://lnkd.in/eZ4SXwDq Jeroen De Maeyer, Dirk VAN den POEL, Nicole Berx

Having spent 8 years working in the French ecosystem, I was happy to co-host Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises delegation at Flanders Make Kortrijk site together with Grisja Lobbestael and Koen Maertens. A delegation of companies active in the sector of advanced materials, together with POLYMERIS & AXELERA clusters, were introduced to the Flanders Make network and were able to witness some of our Industry 5.0 demonstrators in action. Lots of untapped collaboration potential between the two regional ecosystems, great job for taking the initiative and making the connection Oraline Wiart (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises) and Peter Jaspers (Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT)). Just in time for the upcoming #HorizonEurope calls - looking forward to the next steps!

Next Tuesday, Dec 10th, my colleague Ewoud Verhelst and me are giving a course on Skilled-Based Robot Programming and how it can be applied to build your own Digital Assembly Assistant. By the end of this 4h course, you will be proficient in transitioning a collaborative robot (cobot) from traditional hardcoded programming to a more flexible, parameterized skill-based system. You'll also learn to develop your own library of skills for various applications. 𝗟𝗲𝘂𝗸 𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘂𝘄𝘀! #Research #PhD #Innovation #MotionControl #ParameterTracking #Robotica #OpenAccess
