  • Welcome to Schengen, Bulgaria and Romania!   As of today, there will be no more checks when travelling across land borders between Bulgaria or Romania and any Schengen member country. Border checks for air and sea travel were lifted in March 2024.    Today we celebrate them becoming fully-fledged members of the largest free travel area in the world.

  • We need more women in leadership positions. And now, we are one step closer.    EU countries had until 28 December to introduce new rules set out in the "Women on Boards" Directive into their laws. These rules were adopted by the European Parliament two years ago and aim to boost gender equality on corporate boards.   At least 40% of non-executive director posts or 33% of all director posts should go to the under-represented sex. EU countries have until the end of June 2026 to reach the objectives.   According to Evelyn Regner and Lara Wolters, MEPs responsible for the legislation, competence will count more in a selection procedure than ever before, as will transparency and gender balance in the boardrooms of listed companies will become the norm throughout the EU.   Read more → https://europa.eu/!C8g7YC

    • The text reads: Making space at the table.
  • One year since his passing, we remember Jacques Delors, a man ahead of his time.   As one of the architects of the EU we know today, his time as both President of the European Commission and a member of the European Parliament has left behind a lasting legacy.   The creation of the European single market, the adoption of the Maastricht Treaty and the introduction of the euro can all be traced back to Delors, who was driven by a passion to bring Europe closer together.

  • Here’s a Christmas surprise: 28 December will be the day that changes electronics sold in the EU. It’s the day that one charging cable for all your new devices becomes a reality🔌    In a few days, all new mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, speakers, keyboards and many other electronics sold in the EU will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port. Regardless of manufacturer. Benefitting your wallet and the environment. Let’s leave messy cables in 2024 🎉
