📈Accelerating EU Transport #Decarbonisation 🚗💨 🚛 In his contribution to Bioenergy Europe's #LandscapeReport2024 Craig Winneker, Director of Communications of ePURE: European renewable ethanol associationstresses the importance of #ethanol to decarbonise transport in the EU without sacrificing the sector’s #competitiveness. 🎤 To meet climate goals faster, the EU must embrace #renewablefuels like ethanol. Mario Draghi's report urges a pragmatic, tech-neutral approach, highlighting ethanol's potential for 90% GHG savings and immediate impact alongside EVs. 🌍 As the EU develops its definition of #CO2neutral fuels, it must ensure that all ethanol compliant with the #RenewableEnergyDirective is included. This will accelerate #emissionsreductions, maintain affordable mobility, and enhance competitiveness. Will policymakers act? 🖱️Stay tuned for the full text! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eJ9c5mU7

Aligned with the goals set by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the #CleanIndustrialDeal aims to 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝗨 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 while accelerating 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Bioenergy Europe has outlined four priorities to achieve these objectives: 1️⃣ 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Transitioning energy-intensive industries to bio-based solutions is critical. Bioenergy offers affordable, practical alternatives for processes that cannot be electrified. 2️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: Leveraging the EU’s leadership in bioenergy technologies provides an opportunity to expand exports and position Europe as a global leader in renewable energy manufacturing. 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀: Bioenergy heating solutions can reduce energy costs, decarbonise the heating sector, and address energy poverty. Replacing inefficient systems will also stimulate EU manufacturing for domestic and district heating solutions. 4️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Clear, consistent regulations are key to fostering investment and driving innovation in renewable energy technologies. The Clean Industrial Deal can fortify the EU’s industrial base while driving progress towards its climate goals. Bioenergy Europe is committed to supporting the development of a strategy that revitalizes Europe’s competitiveness. #Bioenergy #Decarbonisation #EUIndustry #EnergySecurity #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy

🌍 In the current unstable geopolitical landscape, the European Commission has stated that the #EuropeanUnion needs to work on its #StrategicAutonomy. The EU needs to become less reliant on foreign and unreliable partners for its basic needs, which include energy. ⛓️💥 While fossil fuels keep Europe largely dependent, #biomass is mostly a locally sourced, with only 5% of imports coming from reliable partners. This means that the European #bioenergy sector: ✅provides #energysecurity ✅creates #EUjobs in rural areas 🖱️ Stay tuned for a deeper exploration of the EU’s Energy Mix in Bioenergy Europe's latest statistical report! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eJ9c5mU7
