  • 🐾 The Adopt, Don’t Shop campaign is connecting people with rescue pets that best suit their home and lifestyle. As we approach the festive season and summer holidays, many consider adding a furry friend to their family. This is the perfect time to help a pet settle in and create a strong bond. By adopting or fostering, you not only give a pet a loving home but also relieve the pressure on these organisations. Rescue pets come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and health-checked. This campaign also supports the Dog Amendment (Stop Puppy Farming) Act 2021, which includes measures to: 🐶 Mandate sterilisation, 🐶 Transition pet shops to adoption centres, 🐶 Require breeder registration, and 🐶 Launch PetsWA, a centralised pet registration system integrating records from across WA. Looking to adopt or learn more about responsible pet ownership and the new laws? Visit pets.wa.gov.au 📸 some adoptables from Animal Protection Society of WA https://apswa.asn.au/

  • The mighty Black Hawks can carry 4,500 litres of water, refill in just 45 seconds, and take on bushfires in the toughest terrains, even in low visibility! With a record 38 aircraft based around the State, the Black Hawks are ready to support firefighters as they protect lives and homes this bushfire season. More than 93 per cent of WA is bushfire-prone, yet only 1.95 per cent of households have a recorded bushfire plan. They also include important information about what to do with pets and what you need to pack in your emergency kit. • 🚗🎉 The Wilman Wadandi Highway is set to officially open on 16 December! 🛣 Formerly known as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road, this is the largest infrastructure project ever completed in WA's South West. Stretching 27 kilometres, the four-lane highway will significantly reduce travel times to and from the South West by up to 20 minutes. It will also reroute an average of 15,000 vehicles from Bunbury's local roads every day, improving road safety and easing congestion for the community. With five new bridges, four grade-separated interchanges, and a design that bypasses 13 sets of traffic lights, the Wilman Wadandi Highway represents a major upgrade for commuters heading in and out of the region.
