The voice of Victorian farmers and rural communities since 1979.
About us
The Victorian Farmers Federation is an active, powerful lobby group dedicated to the interests of farmers and making a difference to communities. With a strong record of successful political advocacy and leadership, the VFF has generated substantial benefits for the agriculture sector since its formation in 1979. The VFF ensures farmers in Victoria have the freedom to operate their businesses, do so with the best available health and welfare practices and are kept informed about new and emerging ideas, technologies and markets. Our network of branches connects farmers across Victoria to identify and act on issues within their own communities. There are seven commodity groups under the banner of the VFF - dairy through the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria, livestock, grains, horticulture, chicken meat, eggs and pigs, and Flowers Victoria. Farmers' Fund is a commercial brand that is owned by the VFF for the purpose of delivering social impact from the sale of milk for on-farm innovation.

Love rural and regional Victoria, in particular. It is good policy which drives benefits to those Victorians outside of Melbourne.

Great to see some much-needed rain fall across parts of Victoria today, helping to reduce the fire risk. For some, unfortunately it’s too little, too late. Last week, a host of VFF representatives including President Brett Hosking and Vice-President Peter Star visited fire affected farmers in the Grampians. They were joined by Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence and community representatives to get a first-hand look at the devastation and hear from locals on the ground. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to the emergency services helping to keep our communities safe & the farmers that took measures to prepare farms during recent bushfires. Many of our members spent their Christmas on the fireground & we thank them for their efforts. Various assistance resources are available to those impacted, you can read more below: Message from VFF President, Brett Hosking: https://lnkd.in/gH4P4nag VFF media release: https://lnkd.in/gjNFaTNH

Victoria is starting to dry out and that means more risk of bushfires. With the support of the Victorian Government and as part of the Emergency Fodder Support Program, we’re reminding truck transport operators to pre-register their details with us. In the event of a bushfire or other significant emergency, we may call on those registered to help deliver fodder to where it’s needed most. Register your details here: https://lnkd.in/gE_QanJw Agriculture Victoria

It was a fantastic night in Ballarat last week as our VFF Making Our Farms Safer Project launched their ‘Harvesting Change’ mental health handbook for farmers. “It’s a sobering reality that nearly half of Australian farmers say they have recently felt depressed, with almost two thirds of them experiencing anxiety.” “Almost half of Australian farmers have had thoughts of self-harm or suicide. That is absolutely devastating and this handbook is a great first step towards giving farming communities the support and resources they need,” VFF VP and Chair of the Making our Farmers Safer Committee Danyel Cucinotta said. This handbook is free and available to all farmers. Visit https://lnkd.in/gwYkXwvS to get your copy #vicfarmers
