Starting to get quite a few awesome reviews and endorsements from around the world for my new book, “Carbon is not a dirty word ~ a guide to carbon, markets, governance and Nature Based Solutions”, so thought I’d put a few up suitable for the farmers at the next Ag field day we are doing in Henty, NSW 17-20 Sept. Next week. Hope to you see you there! We will be located in “Country Lifestyle” if you are visiting and would like to buy a copy of the book. I have only 50 left from my first print run but think I will leave it to online purchases from now on! this is a pertinent and pervasive issue in trading soil carbon

Carbon markets are seen as a scam by many people. Because some farmers have already achieved carbon neutrality, biodiversity etc (which took them decades btw) there is a consideration that well,” if they did it why should anyone else get paid for it, it’s just what farmers ‘should’ be doing! “ Plus many farmers look at me when i suggest getting them paid for it through the carbon markets that that is just letting “the polluters keep polluting.” It’s so hard being out here with the farmers resisting us AND the market demanding more and more before they pay anything. Now we are being told the global carbon market is becoming even more compliant due to the greenwashing by precursor opportunists, which just means more expense for farmers and more bureaucracy being added in. As someone trying to find a way to get farmers paid a decent exchange it’s simply exhausting what is being asked now. Basically corperations want your life’s story and anything else they can tick an ESG box for their compliance requirements. It does my head in. The ESG laws on footprint reporting will hit businesses in Australia Jan 1, 2025 and affect about 6000 businesses as per this PWC report. They will all investigate their supply lines and try to push their costs off to someone else. We are working to get a one year carbon offset for farmers’ soil carbon sequestration, stewardship and drawdown achievements across the line but the greenwashing fear that caused litigation has made it very hard to move the dial and the govt compliance credits dump all the financial risk and burden on the farmers who are already stretched financially with many suiciding around the world and leaving the land in droves making sure their children do not end up in a life underpaid and undersupported. But we must all remember No family farmers, No Real food! Just a planet pushed with monocultures. #carbon #carbonmarkets #climatesolutions Ryan Babbage Nicole Masters Diana Rodgers, RD Charlie Arnott Greg Paynter Di Haggerty Jane Slattery Jane Stewart Peter Broadbent Mark A. I had the pleasure of sitting down with David Bronner, the Cosmic Engagement Officer (CEO) of the famed Dr. Bronner's, whose life story is as rich and foamy as the company's iconic soap. In some ways, there's no one I wanted to speak with more right now. Since David became CEO in 1998, the company has grown from $4 million in revenue to well over $100 million, and all while continuing to change so much about the systems and stories we live by. In recent times, they’ve co-founded #Regenerative Organic Certification with Patagonia, Rodale Institute and others, setting a whole new standard of global supply chain #transformation. And here today David announces a new upcoming initiative called the #Purpose Pledge, which follows on from last week’s conversation on regenerative finance with Esther Park uncannily well. But what really had me wondering, as I approached Bronner’s Californian HQ, was how David feels about the iconic All-One company ethos and legacy, 76 years in, given the state of the world today. Having emerged from the tragedy of the Holocaust, at the hands of David’s inspired grandfather Emanuel, and knowing that amongst the company’s trailblazing regenerative #supply chains are communities in both Palestine and Israel, this was a profound opener to our conversation. You can find it on ep 207 of The #RegenNarration podcast this week. With thanks to Kelly F., Lilia Letsch, Garrison Goode, Brennan Ziegler, Cassidy and everyone at Bronner's HQ for the warm welcome and wonderful tour, and to Melissa Hodge back home at Bronner's Australia. https://lnkd.in/gBvyUWtA
