As we wrap up an incredible year, we’re reflecting on all the achievements and milestones that have shaped 2024 for the Urban Design Association! 🎉 🚀 This year marked major milestones: 🔹 The launch of the UDA Registered Urban Designer (RUDA) scheme, allowing Urban Designers to become recognised registered professionals in NSW. 🔹 Urban Design becoming an official occupation on the Australian Government's OSCA list. 🔹 The launch of our journal, SCALE, which sparks insightful conversations on urban design. 🔹 A packed year of events, including the sold-out UDA Gala with inspiring speakers and awards, webinars and UDA at the Pub. Huge thanks to all who contributed to making this year a success! 🙌 We’re looking forward to an even bigger 2025 with more webinars, events, and opportunities to advocate for better built environments. 🎉Urban Designer is now recognised as an occupation in Australia! 🎉 The Australian Government has just released an update to the standard classification for occupations (OSCA) and 241133 Urban Designer at Skill Level 1 is on the list thanks to a concerted effort led by the Urban Design Association of NSW (UDA) and supported by Urban Design Forum, UDAL and many urban designers from around the country. This is an important step in advancing recognition of Urban Designers as a profession in Australia. 🙋♀️🙋♂️🙋

Last night’s UDA Gala was a night to remember! ✨🎉 The UDA celebrated creativity, innovation, and the incredible contributions of the urban design community. Some of the highlights of the evening included keynote speaker Elizabeth Watson-Brown, Lifetime Contributions Award winners Helen Lochhead and Peter John Cantrill🏆, the NSW’s Favourite Urban Place winner ‘The Corso’ in Manly 🏅, and student award winners, Abeer Dajani from UTS, and Kahlia Rae and Fahmad Fariz Al Hazmi from the University of Sydney.
