Strategic Lead QLD I Urban Core

Exciting news from UC QLD! I’m proud to share successful refurbishment of YHA Brisbane City and our second asset upgrade in their larger revitalisation journey. Over 14 weeks, we tackled 6 separable portions in a live environment, delivering 63 co-living rooms, 14 private rooms, and upgraded amenities and communal spaces across two buildings. A huge shoutout and thanks to our client YHA Australia, and to our great team of subcontractors! Urban Core

  • 🎄 Celebrating a Fantastic Year in Victoria ! 🎄 Yesterday's party wasn't just a celebration - it was a testament to what's possible when a small team thinks big. Our VIC crew, captured in that epic team photo alongside our most trusted subcontractors, has rewritten the playbook this year. 💥 Size? Irrelevant. Impact? Extraordinary. 👊🏻 Huge shoutout to Matthew Ciavarella, our project maestro, whose leadership has been the driving force Victoria needed. His talented team has consistently delivered projects ahead of schedule and under budget, keeping clients and subcontractors happy and returning for more. This team isn't just performing; they're setting new benchmarks for excellence. 😎 To the Victorian team: You're not just raising the bar. • Ravya is a star!

Hey Urban Core family! ✨ I just have to share this incredible story that perfectly captures what we mean when we talk about being ‘Always Learning’. It's about one of our rising stars, ravya maggo, and trust me – her journey will inspire you. 💫 Picture this: You're juggling a Construction Management Masters while diving into your first role in the industry. Sounds challenging, right? But that's exactly where Ravya started with us, and wow, has she soared! From Project Coordinator to Contract Administrator in her first year, she's living proof that when passion meets opportunity, magic happens. 🌟 What really touches my heart is hearing Ravya say she's excited to come to work every single day. (Let's be honest – how many people can say that?) This isn't just luck, though. It's what happens when we truly commit to supporting each other's growth. Our project managers didn't just mentor Ravya – they championed her success, showing exactly what our collaborative culture is all about. 🚀 And here's what makes me proudest: Ravya's already thinking about how she'll mentor others when she becomes a PM. That's the kind of forward-thinking leadership that keeps our Urban Core family growing stronger every day. 💪🏻 Remember, whether you're just starting out or leading projects, every day brings a new chance to learn, grow, and lift others up. Ravya's story isn't just her success – it's a blueprint for all of us. Keep learning, keep growing, keep supporting each other. That's the Urban Core way! 💪 #AlwaysLearning #UrbanCoreValues #GrowthMindset #LeadershipDevelopment #LoveConstruction

Keeping this one short since we've covered diversity in depth... but here's some numbers that speak louder than words: 👇 Industry average for women in construction? A measly 13%. 📊 Urban Core's numbers? 50% of our total workforce and 55% of our leadership team. And yes, we're still pushing for more. 💪 Not because it's trendy. Not because it looks good. But because diverse teams build better. Simple as that. 🎯 #WomenInConstruction #UrbanCore #LeadingWithPurpose #DiversityInConstruction #LoveConstruction #NextGenerationConstruction

  • BHAG: Achieved! A glorious day (and spectacular view) to celebrate this milestone.

💥 Feel the fear and do it anyway! 💥 When I started Urban Core, I set myself a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) which was to have a tower crane in the Sydney skyline within 10 years. Today, I am not only proud that I achieved that goal in just 8 years but also that I climbed to the top of the crane! 🏗️ I am known for pushing myself outside of my comfort zone but this time, considering my crippling fear of heights, it’s fair to say that I took it to next level (literally!). Every step up that vertical ladder was a mix of fear and exhilaration (in hindsight, a bit like running a business?). There were countless moments when I doubted if I could make it to the top. But isn’t that what construction is all about? charging ahead, overcoming challenges, building something bigger than ourselves and enjoying the journey along the way! A special shoutout to my client George Gadallah, who climbed effortlessly alongside me, and to Urban Core’s safety team, Khaled J. and Melissa Khoury, for not only ensuring I had the formal training but also for the incredible psychological support. I’ll never forget Khaled’s impromptu therapy session on the third platform when I froze mid-climb – too scared to go up or down. [Side note: it’s incredible what breathwork can do!] 🔥 For me, this was more of a mental challenge than a physical one – not because I’m incredibly fit (obviously 😉) but because it took everything I had to push past the limits I had unknowingly set for myself. I thought I couldn’t do it. And yet... I did. 👊🏻 Climbing that crane wasn’t just a personal milestone it was a way to showcase the thrill of working in construction. It’s not all heavy, dirty, or ugly! Construction is dynamic, fun, and full of adventure. And yes, this was a 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 for me – not bad, right? If you’re looking for a career that challenges you in ways you never imagined – and gets your heart racing – take a look up. The opportunities in construction are as high as the cranes we build. 🚀 I’m so proud of this moment and hope it inspires others to step out of their comfort zone and reach for new heights – both literally and figuratively. 💫 What magic happened the last time you challenged yourself? 👇🏻 #LoveConstruction #WomenInConstruction #ReachForTheSky #FeelTheFear #NextGenerationConstruction

  • 💥 Level 13, 484 St Kilda Rd 💥 Urban Core is thrilled to return to 484 St Kilda Road, continuing our strong partnership with UBS, JLL and Nutbrook. We were engaged alongside ChadandWick for Veriu Group | Veriu Hotels & Suites | Punthill Apartment Hotels' new office fitout in Melbourne. Early collaboration with the design team was essential to meet a strict deadline. We identified time efficiencies and selected alternative long-lead items such as light fixtures, furniture, and custom finishes, all while preserving the design intent and staying on budget. We even completed the project a week ahead of the contractual practical completion date. 💅 **Design Highlights** Chad & Wick created a modern, thoughtful design that captures Veriu’s vision perfectly. The office features: ✨ Uninterrupted views across Albert Park Lake ✨ Vibrant carpets, wood panelling, and extensive joinery ✨ A wellness/retreat area designed to attract and retain top talent ✨ A neutral colour palette that complements Veriu’s luxurious hotel branding Veriu’s office displays the thoughtfulness that goes into a high-end fitout while embodying the luxurious branding of their hotels and apartments. We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this design vision to life. We also maximised our time and resources on site by delivering a comprehensive, turnkey refurbishment of the lift lobbies and amenities on Level 13. **Sustainability at the Core** During demolition, we uncovered redundant supplementary air conditioning units not listed in the original as-built documentation. Recognising an opportunity, we repurposed these systems into the new fit-out, delivering a superior, efficient mechanical solution at no extra cost to Veriu. How cool is that?🧊 This project is a true testament to Urban Core’s commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable and high-quality solutions. We’re proud to have played a role in realising this vision for Veriu Group. Let us know what you think of this fit-out in the comments below! • Q. How do you change an industry? A. Dismantle the barriers to change. Then you can build a better future. #diversity #strategicadvantage #construction

Let's cut through the noise. Yes, I'm openly and proudly pushing for more women in construction through affirmative action at Urban Core. And no, I'm not interested in debating whether that makes some people uncomfortable. 🤷♀️ The way I see it, our industry has been an old boys' club for far too long, and that hasn't exactly led to groundbreaking innovation, has it? 🤔 We're still using methods from 50 years ago while the rest of the world races ahead. You want to know why? Because we've been drawing from the same shallow talent pool, recycling the same tired perspectives. 🔄 At Urban Core, we're done playing it safe. We're actively seeking out women leaders and technical experts not because it's trendy, but because it's smart business. Have you seen what happens when you put a diverse team on a complex construction problem? Magic. ✨ They question assumptions that have gone unchallenged for decades. They bring solutions that never would have surfaced in a homogeneous group. The data backs this up, but honestly? I don't need studies to tell me what I see with my own eyes every day. Our gender-diverse teams consistently outperform traditional ones. They think broader. They solve faster. They connect better with clients who, surprise, surprise, aren't all men either. 😉 To those clinging to the "but we should only hire the best" argument - wake up. The "best" talent isn't all hiding in one demographic. By maintaining barriers that keep women out of construction, we've been shooting ourselves in the foot. We've been ignoring half the talent pool and then wondering why we can't fill positions with "qualified" candidates. 🤦♀️ So yes, we're using affirmative action. We're actively dismantling those barriers. We're creating clear pathways for women to step into leadership roles. And we're already seeing the results in our bottom line, our project outcomes, and our workplace culture. 📈 Don't like it? That's fine. Keep doing things the old way. Meanwhile, we'll be over here building the future of construction with the strongest, most dynamic teams we can assemble. 🌟 The industry is changing. You can either lead that change or get left behind. At Urban Core, we've made our choice. 🔥 What will it be for you ? 👇🏻 #ConstructionInnovation #WomenInConstruction #DiversityInConstruction #FutureOfWork #LoveConstruction

💥 We Are Antifragile - The Urban Core Way 💥 In an industry often buckling under pressure, we at Urban Core see challenges as opportunities to shine. Our antifragile approach means we don't just survive the ups and downs - we grow stronger with every hurdle. 💪 Here's how we buck the trend: 1️⃣ While others rush to expand, we've taken a 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 - growing from one to three strategic locations in eight years. Each new office fully resourced and purposefully integrated. Quality over quantity, always. 🎯 2️⃣ We've strategically 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 our portfolio, moving beyond fitouts to take on full new build projects. From commercial to industrial to residential – we're proving that specialisation doesn't mean limitation. Each new sector makes us more resilient, more adaptable. 🏗️ 3️⃣ Our team diversity isn't just a metric - it's our 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫. With 50% female representation (including senior leadership team), we're bringing fresh perspectives to every challenge. Different viewpoints = better solutions. Period. ⚡ At Urban Core, pressure creates diamonds. 💎 We're not just constructing buildings; we're building a more resilient future for the industry. Who else believes in turning challenges into opportunities? Share your thoughts! 👇🏻 #LoveConstruction #Antifragile #NextGenerationConstruction #UrbanCore
