In October, as part of the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP) programme, Supacat and Foot Anstey Law Firm hosted a number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, to demonstrate the plethora of career opportunities open to everyone. Vanessa Uwera, SMBP, Delivery Executive wrote: “We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation for delivering a day in the SMBP Exeter WISE Week. The impact it had on the students was phenomenal!” Quote from Student: “I had a great day once again, learning all about the RAF, the Army, and the Navy, subjects I didn’t have much knowledge on prior. There were presentations from people in a variation of job roles in an engineering business; it was very interesting, and I was able to gain a great insight into these different job roles.” The SMBP programme educates the next generation about the variation of roles within a business, and showcases the variety of functions that aid business performance. Supacat and Foot AnsteyLaw Firm joined forces to host several students from underprivileged backgrounds as part of the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP) programme. We were honoured to welcome this year's SMBP students to Dunkewell as part of their industrial familiarisation week. The SMBP event is a beacon of hope. It enables SMEs like us to demonstrate the career opportunities available within their organisation and showcase the variety of functions that help support company performance. The SMBP programme is not just about educating the next generation about the variation of roles within a business. It's about providing them with insight into the values and culture that underpin a successful organisation. For the Supacat team, it was an excellent opportunity to reflect on their own career development and to positively impact the lives of others, making a real impact on both the students and our organisation. Healthy competition among colleagues can have a positive impact on the overall wellbeing and morale of the workforce. In line with this, Phil Applegarth organised a thrilling Go-Kart race for a Supacat team at Dunkeswell Raceway. This exciting event not only coincided with #worldmentalhealthday last week, but also served as part of the team's preparation for the Remembrance Day Charity Go-Kart Race scheduled to take place at Thruxton in November. #RemembranceDay2024
