It was an honour for Solbari to attend yesterday's Parliamentary Friends of Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness event at Parliament House. Launched by Melanoma & Skin Cancer Advocacy Network (MSCAN) in 2023, the event highlights the work of community groups, clinicians, researchers, and industry in addressing skin cancer while advocating for greater patient support. It also fosters collaboration with Parliamentarians to drive meaningful change. We deeply thank Tamara Dawson, MSCAN's Founder, and co-chairs The Hon. Jason Clare MP MP and The Hon. Darren Chester MP Darren Chester MP for leading this impactful initiative. Standing in Parliament House and advocating for a cause our Founder, Johanna Young, has championed for over 10 years was truly inspiring. It was fantastic to see strong support from MPs, including Deputy Prime Minister The Hon. Richard Marles MP, Federal Health Minister The Hon. Mark Butler MP, and Opposition Leader The Hon. Peter Dutton MP, and inspiring to hear from 2024 Australians of the Year Prof Georgina Long AO and Prof Richard Scolyer AO, as well as Pauline, who shared her personal battle and experience with attendees.
