Yesterday, we held our annual face to face meeting with our Stakeholder Liaison Group (SLG). It was amazing to be able to collaborate with our members in person after multiple online meetings this year on topics such as work placement, governance through change, international delivery and the revised Standards. The day began with opening statements from our CEO Saxon Rice and Director of Sector Education and Engagement, Kai Rottmann, who is the chair of SLG. Our Director of Intelligence, Greg Simmons gave an overview of our Integrity Unit and facilitated some great conversation. SLG members then participated in several workshops with our DCEO Christina Bolger and staff from our Policy and Engagement group. In these sessions, members reviewed our draft educational content for the revised Standards, provided welcome feedback and highlighted key considerations to include to ensure our guidance materials support provider capability. The day ended with a discussion on future SLG commitments and potential opportunities for us to engage with SLG to uplift the sector. Our SLG members play a critical role in shaping our regulatory, education and communications approach. We truly value their efforts and dedication to co-create effective and practical educational content to address sector needs. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our SLG members for the continued support, expertise and knowledge that you bring to our agency. Thank you to all members and attendees for your shared passion for improving the VET sector, and your continued enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring quality training outcomes for students. #ASQA #VETsector

  • Today is R U OK? Day – a great reminder to check in on our colleagues and students in the vocational education sector. We all know how demanding the VET environment can be, with the pressures of study, teaching, and supporting learners. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple “Are you OK?” to make someone feel seen and supported. Let’s keep the conversation going around mental health in our sector, making sure we’re there for each other – today and every day. #RUOKDay #MentalHealthAwareness #VocationalEducation #SupportEachOther

  • As part of the Albanese Government focus on strengthening the integrity and sustainability of the international education sector it has announced that it would set limits on the number of international students that can be enrolled by international education providers. Today the Government has announced that, subject to the passage of legislation before the Parliament, it will set a National Planning Level (NPL) for new international student commencements of 270,000 for calendar year 2025. The NPL is divided between the higher education and vocational education and training (VET) sectors. This will bring the number of new international student commencements, across higher education and VET, back to pre-pandemic levels. For publicly funded universities, the managed growth approach, in aggregate, will result in around 145,000 new international student commencements in 2025, which is around 2023 levels. The Albanese Government’s managed approach will see around 95,000 new VET international student commencements in 2025. Subject to the passage of legislation, from 1 January 2025, this new system of managed growth and enhanced integrity measures will result in the replacement of Ministerial Direction 107. #vocationaleducation #internationalstudents #highereducation #CRICOS https://lnkd.in/gfdHuquj
