It's International Day of People with Disability 🌟 At Seqwater, inclusion and diversity are at our core. As a proud WaterAble partner, we’re dedicated to creating workplaces where everyone can thrive. Today, we celebrate Kimberlee Pithers, who is sharing her story in a special WaterAble webinar. In 2021, a severe car accident left Kimberlee with physical and psychological injuries, including PTSD. Her journey has inspired her to advocate for inclusion and accessibility in the workplace and water industry. A recent WaterAble leadership graduate, Kimberlee champions inclusive practices at Seqwater, helping others bring their full selves to work.

Seqwater recognises that there is a growing public interest in PFAS. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are widely used in firefighting foams, pesticides, textiles and leather products, food packaging, non-stick cookware, cosmetics, sunscreens, denture cleaners and medical devices. Because PFAS is used in many everyday products, it can be present at low levels in our catchments. Seqwater provides clean, safe drinking water to South East Queensland that complies with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG). We monitor, report and test water quality regularly. The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) regularly reviews the ADWG, and we remain committed to meeting these guidelines and ensuring the safety of South East Queensland’s water. Access to food and water are fundamental human rights. It was a sobering reality to learn that 1 in 5 Queensland households still face hunger, and it’s why we’re proud to partner with Foodbank Queensland. We're joining their mission to fight hunger and provide essential food supplies to those in need. Seqwater employees recently rolled up their sleeves at Foodbank’s Distribution Centre, packing 360 food hampers for school-aged children across South East Queensland. This small effort will make a big difference for families facing tough times. With rising cost-of-living pressures, it’s more important than ever for organisations like ours to step up. Alongside our ongoing support of WaterAid, this new partnership allows us to continue backing the communities where we live and work. We're a proud gold sponsor of the 2024 ANCOLD Conference, one of the water industry's key annual events, uniting professionals, researchers, and stakeholders focused on dam engineering and safety. Our team set up a booth at the Adelaide Convention Centre and spent the week engaging visitors on all things Seqwater—from our role in South East Queensland’s water supply to our approach to dam safety and flood operations. Alongside our major projects in the works, we highlighted some Seqwater facts with guests that sparked a lot of interest: 💧 Supplying safe, reliable water to 3.2 million people 🌄 We welcome over 2.6 million visitors to our recreation sites each year 🔗 Our region spans 600 km of interconnected pipelines and infrastructure 🚧 Operating 26 dams, 48 weirs, 32 water treatment plants, 1 desalination plant, and 3 advanced water treatment plants 🚜 We’re supporting 1,200 irrigation customers A special shoutout to Kevin Bartlett who presented on Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams, highlighting their critical role in both flood mitigation and water storage. Thank you ANCOLD The Australian National Committee on Large Dams Inc. for organising such a fantastic event. It was great to connect with industry experts and showcase Seqwater's continued commitment to dam safety and sustainable water management. #ANCOLD2024 #DamsIndustry #Engineering #Dams #WaterSafety #DamEngineering #ProudSponsor #QueenslandWater Daniela Jolly Jerusha Borbas Fiore Zulli Trevor Rohdmann

Today, on Remembrance Day, we honour all who have served from World War I through to recent conflicts. We remember their sacrifices and the values they carry beyond their service. We’re proud to have current veterans like Matthew Rayner, our Emergency and Security Advisor, on the Seqwater team. Matthew served in the Australian Army, driven by a deep love for his country and a sense of adventure. His journey has taken him to historic sites and forged strong bonds with soldiers around the world. Reflecting on Remembrance Day, Matthew shares: “I always wanted to join the Australian Army as a kid. So, when I turned 18, I enlisted. I think I was drawn to service from a sense of patriotism and wanderlust for adventure. The Army gave me the opportunity to serve and fight alongside some of the most amazing people from all over the world. Americans, British, Dutch, Canadians, Spanish, and Kiwis. I have enduring friendships with the men and women I went down range with. Every 11th of November, I take time to remember my mates who fell in combat. The bittersweet memories of my fallen brothers fill me with gratitude for their sacrifice and the time I was blessed to spend with them in life. I also reflect on those who came home but left something behind. These men and women are still fighting emotional battles at home.” Now at Seqwater, Matthew brings a strong spirit of teamwork and commitment to community. Our values of Care, Courage, and Respect resonate deeply with his own. Recently, Matthew made the difficult decision to transition out of the Army to spend more time with his growing family and be present for his daughters. As we reflect on Remembrance Day, we honour the thousands of past and present veterans, nurses, cooks, cleaners, engineers and all who all who served their country. Lest We Forget.
