Congratulations to two of our hardworking colleagues A/Prof Naomi Hammond and Alta Schutte PhD FESC ISHF FRSSAf, who have both been included in this year's list of Top 250 Researchers published by The Australian, in Critical Care and Vascular Medicine respectively. The annual ranking uses sophisticated data analysis to identify and shine a light on individuals and institutions with the highest quality and widest impact research. Naomi has been recognised for the second year running for her commitment and achievements as a clinical nurse researcher leading multiple, collaborative programs focused on improving outcomes in sepsis. Alta is a cardiovascular researcher striving to address high rates of hypertension through her innovative projects and leadership roles including as co-Chair of the Hypertension Taskforce. Congratulations to you both! #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity https://bit.ly/3CXeexG

We are on the hunt for medical professionals in Post Sepsis Care. As many of you who have suffered sepsis, cared for or supported someone with sepsis, or lost a loved one to sepsis knows too well, finding a medical professional who has the knowledge and experience needed to provide proactive post sepsis management is near impossible. Sepsis Australia is working on raising awareness, health worker education and supporting health services to develop and implement sepsis prevention and post sepsis models of care nationally, but this systemwide change takes time and we appreciate it is very frustrating and demoralising for everyone affected. We are notified from time to time about a medical professional who is particularly good in providing sepsis advice, support and ongoing care. While we continue to work on improvements at the system level, Sepsis Australia is keen to establish a consortium of health professionals who we can recommend to survivors, families and those bereaved by sepsis. Please send any details of medical professionals you found were helpful (include name, city/state, and contact details if possible) to sepsis@georgeinstitute.org.au #postsepsiscare #sepsisawareness

Australians like Nikolaos Komilionis remind us why it is so important that clinicians, researchers, industry and government representatives work together to find a solution to antimicrobial resistance – we need a system that recognises the full value of innovative medicines and ensures that we have effective treatments now and into the future. Are you ready to take action? Join us for a free and virtual training to hear from Elliot Main, MD and two maternal sepsis survivors about topics including: the burden of maternal and neonatal sepsis, the role advocates can play in supporting public policy related to maternal health, and how to tell local lawmakers to prioritize maternal sepsis education and awareness.
