Grief is a complex and extremely personal journey that varies greatly between individuals. The loss of a beloved pet is not only a major cause of grief but is often diminished by those around us, creating further feelings of isolation and sadness. However, dealing with the loss of a pet isn't something you need to endure alone. In this video, Rest Your Paws' Pet Loss Counsellor Hayley Grey outlines her approach to Grief Counselling, including descriptions of some of the more common symptoms of grief and how her counselling sessions can help.

Watch our collaboration with ABC’s Compass this Sunday, 7th April, at 6:30pm. Rest Your Paws collaborated with the ABC to develop the documentary program 'Goodbye My Dog', airing this Sunday. Australians love their dogs. In fact, almost half of us have welcomed dogs into our homes. Saying goodbye to these treasured family members is devastating for many people. Compass follows three families through the grief of their dog’s last days and reveals the tender, loving moments usually hidden from public view.

With high temperatures across much of Australia, knowing how to keep pets safe from the heat has never been more important. Heatstroke in pets can be subtle but quite fatal, so we've put together these reminders that you can share with your patients to keep our pets safe this summer. ☀️Avoid exercise or too much excitement in severe heat. ☀️Avoid walking on hot floors such as concrete or outdoor tiles. ☀️Keep your pet inside to ensure you can monitor their health. ☀️Ensure enough cool, clean, fresh water is left out. ☀️Do not leave your pet in a vehicle, or confined spaces at home. ☀️Contact your local vet if any signs of heatstroke arise.
