  • Epics or Ideas? If you ever wondered which one to use, this is the guide for you ⤵️

Ever wonder how Epics and Ideas fit together in Jira? 🤔 Both are important, but they play very different roles in the product development process. Think of it this way: 💡 Ideas spark innovation. 📋 Epics drive execution. Here’s how they work together: ✅ Ideas live in Jira Product Discovery. They capture your team’s best thinking, insights, and big-picture goals. ✅ Epics live in Jira (Software). They break those ideas down into actionable plans. The magic happens when you connect the two. ✨ Ideas inspire Epics. Epics bring Ideas to life. Here’s how to use them together effectively: 1️⃣ Start in Jira Product Discovery. Gather Ideas from your team and stakeholders. Prioritize them based on customer value, effort, and alignment with goals. 2️⃣ Once an Idea is ready to move forward, link it to an Epic in Jira Software. 3️⃣ Use the Epic to break the Idea into Stories, tasks, and deliverables for your team. 4️⃣ Track progress in Jira Software while keeping stakeholders updated in Jira Product Discovery. Using Ideas and Epics effectively will help you: ➡️ Keeping your team focused on what matters most. ➡️ Turning creative sparks into real-world impact. ➡️ Making the product development process seamless and transparent. Curious how it all works? Check out the full article in the comments. Give it a read, and let me know: How does your team manage the flow from Idea to Execution? 👇

☑️ Action items have finally arrived in Jira! But when should you use action items vs subtasks? Here is a quick guide ⤵️ 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 ✔️ The items are minor steps or reminders ✔️ No Additional Context or Assignees Are Needed (although you can @mention people on action items) ✔️ If you want to keep things lightweight and avoid cluttering your board or backlog. Use Case: Quality assurance ☑ Test on Chrome ☑ Test on Firefox ☑ Test on Safari 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 ✔️ Each task needs to be tracked individually for progress, estimation, or reporting ✔️ Tasks need be assigned to specific individuals ✔️ Tasks require a description, due date, discussion thread or other metadata ✔️ Tasks has a dependency on other subtasks Use Case: Launch preparation ☑ Prepare email campaign ☑ Update website ☑ Run final QA 𝗧𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 ℹ️ Use action items for smaller, untracked steps. ℹ️ Use subtasks for larger chunks of work that need individual ownership.

  • Garbage in, garbage out — that’s the go-to advice when it comes to AI. But sometimes Ai surprises us. We recently got the feedback below from a customer. Saying that Released was "easily as good as them" to make sense of overly vague tickets. Read for yourself: "So my concern was, it's gonna be kind of garbage in garbage out. And it actually exceeded my expectations in that regard and it actually made sense to some pretty vague tickets, Yeah, easily as good as me going through a bug ticket and trying to understand what the bug ticket was actually fixing in the first place." We ❤️ love reading feedback like this

Release notes and Roadmaps for Jira from Released.so is an app that will allow you to publish release notes and Jira tasks externally on a website or intranet. This is by far the smoothest and most useful app I have seen for publishing roadmaps and release notes externally. It is the perfect app for stakeholder communication outside the Atlassian products, and it comes with a number of amazing features!

Are you setting your marketing and sales teams up to fail? Ever feel like your marketing and sales teams are the last to know about new features? You're not alone. Just yesterday, a marketer told me he gets his updates from the technical writers on the team. Mind-blowing, right? 🤯 Another marketer mentioned how thrilled they were when a Slack update occasionally included a Loom video. None of them had a single, reliable place to see a roadmap of upcoming product updates or what’s already been shipped. With so many of us working remotely, gone are the days of just tapping someone on the shoulder for a quick update. At Atlassian, it was nearly impossible to figure out what other teams were up to. There was no consistent way to structure information—every team had its own style and communication method. Now, I’m all for teams working in ways that suit them best, but when it comes to communication, discoverability and consistency are important. To scale, you need to make information accessible. People should be able to pull it when they need it, not wait for it to be pushed to them. That’s why we built the Product Hub in Released. It’s your one-stop shop where product teams can share the latest updates, whether it’s with stakeholders or external customers. No more guessing, just clear, consistent communication. The Product Hub is in beta starting today. We are already using it to provide frequent and detailed updates to beta users, outside of our regular changelog and roadmap. 👉 Follow along here: https://lnkd.in/gqykxjdB

  • Learn how we are running our beta program for the Product Hub, by using the Product Hub.

Our beta program communication was a mess—until we made one simple change. We started using a dedicated portal powered by Released (released.so) Setting it up took only a couple of minutes. We styled it in a "construction" color scheme–clearly distinguishing the look from our "official" portal. Updates went from weekly to every couple of days. The feedback? Overwhelmingly positive ❤️ Users loved the transparency and even adopted the approach for their own projects. Read the full article with a step-by-step guide on how we set it up.
