Many young people across Australia will start receiving their final exam results this week and for some, this might mean a period of heightened stress and anxiety. If you’re a parent supporting a young person, here are some tips for how you can help them manage their nerves on results day: 💜Acknowledge their hard work 💜Shift their focus 💜Be comfortable with failure 💜Be open to exploring other options 💜Bring in support The most important thing for your young person to remember is that their marks do not define them. When they’re ready, help them focus on the future, there are plenty of paths to get to their destination. #Year12 #ExamResults #ATAR #SupportingTeens #YouthMentalHealth

Marit Visserman and Melissa Bergin from ReachOut's fundraising team recently attended Dance for Life - a dance competition and fundraising event for ReachOut. This event brought together people from across the design and architecture community to raise money for and awareness about ReachOut. Dance for Life originally started as an 80’s dance competition to bring the community together. This year marked the final year of the competition! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made it possible over the years. And a special thank you to megan byrne for organising these events. It was a great night 💜

It’s been one whole year since we launched the ReachOut Youth Advocacy Program. 💜 The program exists to support young people have their say in shaping the mental health services and policies that impact their lives. During the last 12 months, the advocates have taken their perspectives to Canberra on issues like the cost of living and young people’s access to social media. All of this work has reinforced the advocates' commitment to amplifying youth voices 💪 Last weekend, we held our annual Youth Advocate Workshop in the ReachOut office. Over the two-day workshop, the advocates welcomed some new faces to the group and worked together to determine their priority areas for 2025. They were joined by best-selling author and comedian Lucinda Price (aka Froomes) who shared lots of insights about her recent journey writing a book and how she shows up both on her own platforms and in the media. We were also excited to have Mary Harkness and William McMartin from Future Generation, Gary Groves and ReachOut’s leadership team be part of the workshop. Thank you to each of the 11 youth advocates who were extremely generous with their energy and ideas at the workshop. 💜April Willis 💜Carly Richardson 💜Chase Bautista 💜Georgia Di Prisco 💜Georgia Evans 💜Isabelle Camp 💜Layla Wang 💜Martin Jung 💜Madeleine Doudney 💜Sina Aghamofid 💜William Cook

Introducing ReachOut’s new content series #LikesAndLimits 💜📱🤝 In this series, we’ve worked with mental health experts, parents, carers and teens to bring you expert tips on parenting teens in the digital age – covering screen time, privacy, safety, and more. Developed in partnership with Instagram (Meta), each episode in the series addresses an issue we know parents and carers are concerned about and equips them with the tools they need to best support their teen. The series is hosted by Aussie icon and parent Pia Miranda (Looking for Alibrandi) and features Peter Rowsthorn (Kath and Kim). Today, we held an event at Meta’s head office, where the Minister for Social Services, Amanda Rishworth MP, helped us launch and celebrate the new resources. Minister Rishworth spoke about the role parents and carers play in supporting their young people and the need to ensure that they have the tools and quality resources to equip them to provide effective support and guidance. Social media continues to be a key challenge for parents. These resources aim to empower parents and carers to confidently support their teens when dealing with challenges they may experience when navigating social media. We’ll be releasing the episodes on our new ReachOut Parent Instagram account throughout December. You can check out the new episode here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ggdspqyJ #LikesAndLimits #ReachOutParents #StayingSafeOnline #SupportingTeens
