Independent statutory body overseeing integrity and welfare standards of QLD racing animals and industry participants.

About us

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) is an independent statutory body which oversees the integrity and welfare standards of racing animals and racing industry participants in Queensland. The QRIC was established by the Racing Integrity Act 2016 and began operation on 1 July, 2016. The Commission reports to the Minister for Racing and is accountable to the Queensland Government under the Financial Accountability Act 2009. The Commission works in partnership with the industry to monitor racing activities, uphold the Rules of Racing and safeguard the welfare of racing animals to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to compete on an even playing field. The Commission exists to contribute to the ongoing success of the racing industry in Queensland. The Commission also runs a Greyhound Adoption Program in SEQ and North Queensland to rehome retired racing greyhounds. The Commission strives to be firm but fair by setting out the standards expected of all participants and the penalties for breaches where they occur. An industry that is fair and just is one where everyone wins.
