👙☀️😎 Crazy but true! In 2011, Andrew Schneider, a New York based designer, came up with a 'solar powered' bikini. The two piece swimwear set featured 40 flexible photovoltaic mini panels, connected to a USB charging port. The idea is that you could soak up the sun and charge your phone or other device from the energy captured. Because there's nothing worse than running out of battery when you're at the beach! And the question we know you're all asking, is it water proof?! Apparently yes, although you would have to wait for the charger port to completely dry out before connecting to anything. With multiple different initiatives around the world, there are numerous cities and municipalities that are turning to solar energy for more and more of their power. The drive to 'Go Green' is impacting us all, so it's great to see these locations pushing forward and using renewable power sources. The City of London, UK for example is now using a 91,000 panel site in Dorset to provide over half the energy consumed by assets such as the Tower Bridge and the Barbican Centre. In the USA, Honolulu, HI, Los Angeles and San Diego, CA and Las Vegas, NV are all leading the way with solar panel usage. And in Australia, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Blacktown, Central Victoria, Moreland, Perth and Townsville are all 'pilot cities' using Solar to gain data on any hurdles around solar power use and how we can be more efficient with renewable power usage. #greentech #cleantech #solarpower #solarenergy #commercialsolar #verticalsolar #solarpowerpole

A fantastic case study with the team at NEI Nemmer Electric Company, for the City of Waco, TX, using Axis Communications cameras and PowerStack lighting solutions. This week PowerStack CEO Michael Bragg has been in the UAE, with other portfolio companies under Taronga Ventures and the #RealTechX program, as part of a delegation to further activate and develop the RealTech market in the UAE. As part of a busy program, Michael met with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, attended #AbuDhabiFinanceWeek, and met with local teams from AD Ports Group, Mubadala and Serco to explore opportunities in the region. It was incredibly beneficial trip for Michael and the PowerStack team, culminating in a signing ceremony at the UAE Embassy, officiated by His Excellency, Nooh Al Hammadi, MPA, alongside Elizabeth Wood at the Australian Embassy and The Hon. Christopher Pyne. With such a strong product-market fit between the UAE and the PowerStack technology, it's been fantastic to see the huge amount of interest in our product, and we're honoured to have been involved in such an exciting delegation. Our thanks go to the whole Taronga Ventures team, Hub71 for hosting us, the UAE Embassy in Australia and the Australian Embassy in the UAE.
