  • 🎄Climate Action for Christmas 🎄 - go North-West Tasmania 👏 This week the Waratah Wynyard Council unanimously passed the motions to advocate to the Local Government Association Tasmania (LGAT) on the development of a position statement on oil and gas consistent with Paris Agreement and to ask both State and Federal governments to stop approving new proposals. How Awesome is that 🙌 🏆 Huge congratulations and big thanks to Hannah Sadler (North Tasmania Parents For Climate local group leader) for her tireless advocacy in this space. Hannah is showing us all what is possible through consistent, persistent advocacy at a local government level - her wins to date are super impressive! Hannah's also got one of the best smiles 😁 around, pictured bottom left hand corner with family, local Parents for Climate crew and few other friends to witness the vote at the meeting. "The best Christmas present", said Hannah. We couldn't agree more 🎁 These are the motions will be presented to all Tasmanian mayors and general managers early next year: 1. That LGAT establish a Position Statement on offshore oil and gas exploration and development in Tasmanian and Commonwealth waters off Tasmania consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement and latest and best available science. 2. That LGAT advocate to Tasmanian State and Federal Government to not approve any new offshore oil and gas exploration and development in Tasmanian and Commonwealth waters. 🌟 What a way to end the year of climate advocacy! 🎉
