Congratulations to the Michael J Cousins Portrait Award winner for 2024, Paul S Miller, "I am Still" 2024 (self-portrait). Paul's artwork was selected for the 2024 Salon Des Refusés, S.H. Ervin Gallery. The self-portrait was started before he had deep brain stimulation surgery and finished a few months after surgery, as he was recovering and reassessing what is important in life. Paul said of his self-portrait: "For me, the painting represents all the questions we ask ourselves about our existence, love, memory and the passage of time. About we gather to us and what we have to let go." It was a fabulous evening with Stephanie Brantz as our MC, and A/Prof Paul Wrigley (Conjoint A/Prof Pain Medicine, Northern Clinical School) attending as our special guest. A/Prof Charles Brooker (Director of Pain Management Research Centre) interviewed A/Prof Wrigley on the "ED PainPATH" project. The proceeds from the evening were directed to completing this important project, which aims to improve pain management for people attending emergency departments. Thank you to our lovely guests and corporate supporters, Hearts and Minds Investments Limited (ASX: HM1) and Saluda Medical, for making this an excellent evening. #chronicpain #painmanagement
