A recent Quicken report shows 44% of Gen Z workers with a side hustle are building skills for future roles, in contrast to just 18% of workers overall. Unique challenges, like hiring managers favouring older candidates and remote work’s impact on foundational skills, are shaping Gen Z’s approach to career readiness. Interestingly, only 50% of multi-income Gen Z workers disclose side hustles to their primary employers, highlighting the importance of a supportive workplace culture.
