We’re celebrating access and inclusion for all this International Day of People with Disability. In this video, Naomi Deck and Alistair Lee, members of Council’s Access and Inclusion Committee, share their lived experience of disability and why planning should consider everyone in our community. The Access and Inclusion Committee advises Council on making North Sydney more inclusive and welcoming to a diverse cross section of our community. They’ve already made tangible contributions to our Social Inclusion Strategy and Crows Nest TOD submission, website accessibility, and accessible parking at the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability – with much more to come. It was so inspiring to see our young eco warriors take the lead at the Coal Loader today! 🌏💪 More than 200 school students from around Sydney and as far as Newcastle joined the Schools Environmental Expo. High school students took on the role of teacher and led the primary school students through a packed program of fun, educational activities, all designed to inspire them to take action for our environment in their homes and schools. The future is looking bright in their hands.

That’s a wrap on North Sydney Festival, a day of art, music and community celebration! 🎉💃🪩🤩 On Saturday, North Sydney came alive with the energy and excitement of the North Sydney Festival. Celebrating the revitalization of the CBD, the event welcomed thousands to explore the vibrant new offerings around the Sydney Metro Victoria Cross Station and the Vic X city block. Festival-goers enjoyed an electric line-up on the main stage including ARIA award-winning artists Sarah McLeod and Ben Lee, followed by brilliant indie acts Jet City Sports Club, Seasame Girl, The Toothpicks and STUMPS. The crowd was captivated, creating an unforgettable atmosphere! Studio A’s Thom Roberts’ unique art installation inspired by the Sydney Metro entranced audiences, adding a touch of urban creativity to the festivities. Denison Street buzzed with activity, featuring creative workshops, market stalls, and the Aqualand Kids’ Creative Zone, where families engaged in interactive fun. Around the festival there were pop-up act performances, bringing surprises around every corner. Thank you to the amazing artists, performers, retailers, stallholders, sponsors and staff that made the day a success. It was a massive collaboration across so many Council departments but a huge shout out to the Council Arts and Events team for the effort and impact of your work. The North Sydney Festival, presented in partnership with the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, showcased the newly transformed CBD as a dynamic community hub. #NorthSydneyFestival #OpenStreets
