Throughout 2024 we've seen some fantastic community fundraising event happening, and have been thrilled to see so many of you put your hands up to host an event - there were nearly double the amount of fundraising events held this year! Every bit of fundraising you do for us is an immense help to fund the equipment, support, education and information that we provide for people living with MND, and we'd like to give a heartfelt thank you to you all for the time and effort you put in to assisting us.

Claire Holloway has been carefully tending to the gardens at the MND NSW office in Gladesville for over 2 years now. She began volunteering for us in 2022 after noticing our grounds needed some care and attention. "I love being outdoors and was looking for a project when I noticed the garden outside the MND NSW office needed a little TLC after all the COVID lockdowns. This is a lovely garden to work on and the bird life around is gorgeous," Claire said. Their lives were turned upside down after Margaret was diagnosed with MND, with her symptoms progressing rapidly. Without the assistance of MND NSW, Wayne said he ‘wouldn’t know what they would have done’. He hopes others get the assistance they need, and said 'In Margaret’s situation you need more support than what’s out there, and the only way you get that is through funding'. “MND NSW definitely needs more support and people getting behind it to raise funds so they can assist people living with motor neurone disease." Your generosity means we can be there for the hundreds of people experiencing MND like Wayne and Margaret, no matter their age at diagnosis, across NSW, the ACT and NT. Donate to our 2024 Christmas Appeal at to help us bring our MND information and education sessions to more rural and regional communities. Jean Ward attended our MND Upskill session in Lismore, Northern NSW, and saw firsthand how beneficial the workshops are for carers like herself, as well as for local healthcare workers to gain specialised knowledge about MND. “The information presented was clear and precise, and it was good to try out FlexEquip equipment. “I was concerned and very stressed with the time it took to get my NDIS, it did play up with my mental health and general wellbeing. The support from MND NSW was very appreciated.” -John Rogers Due to his age at diagnosis, and delays as a result of a significant backlog of claims being worked through by the NDIA, John was poised to miss out on receiving an NDIS package. MND NSW advocated for John and requested his case be escalated multiple times, ensuring he received the support he was entitled to as he faced one of the biggest challenges of his life - motor neurone disease.
