Did you know that many artificial food dyes, including Blue Dye #1 (which gives most blue foods their color), pose concerning health risks to humans!? 🙅♂️ 🙅♀️ In fact, blue dyes have been linked to hyperactivity, behavioral issues, and other health concerns. Food Safety News highlights that synthetic dyes have NO nutritional benefits and pose unnecessary risks particularly to children. (Food Safety News). Recently, legislative efforts in California placed a ban on Red Dye #3 and set in motion a movement for safer food, especially in school foods, to better protect kids (Peirson Center for Children). Will blue be next??? This is one of the reasons we developed FUL BLU—a naturally blue, spirulina-based ingredient that delivers a vibrant blue hue while ensuring safer, healthier food options for everyone. 🌍 https://lnkd.in/eCWWCevk Julia Streuli, Sara Guaglio, Cristina Prat, Karen Lacey, Ryan Watt, Emily Tayman, Srishti Khurana, Wico Basson, Sneha Nandan #cleanlabel #fooddye #artificialfooddye #sustainablenutrition

  • 📣 Announcing our latest investment in restaurant intelligence company Restoke.ai Restoke is a platform that integrates with existing restaurant systems to automate operations and provide real-time visibility into key metrics. By leveraging data from costing, inventory, sales and more, Restoke enables restaurant owners and operators to make informed decisions to optimise menus, ordering, food prep and pricing. There's lots to be excited about in the agrifood tech sector, and restaurant + hospitality tech is one of them. It's been rewarding to work with founders Assaf Stizki and Ken Brand as we support their vision, and make our first "downstream" investment. Mandalay Venture Partners participated in Restoke's round alongside Rampersand, Archangels and more. The company currently serves more than 2,000 locations across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the US. The cat is out of the bag! Mandalay Venture Partners is delighted to have been a part of Restoke.ai most recent cap raise. Restoke helps restaurants manage expenses, food waste and costs using unique data sets and algorithms increasing profitability and time. It’s an exciting time at Mandalay Venture Partners as we invest across farm to fork startups in the Agrifood tech sector. Our investment into Restoke kicks off one of our first downstream investments across the sector and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Thanks again to the Mandalay and Rampersand teams for helping drive this investment. #agtech #foodtech #restauranttech #startup #Ai #copilot #investment #venture https://lnkd.in/gXEWK8aM

**Investment Announcement** We are really excited to share with you Mandalay Venture Partners most recent investments into Nbryo and Haelen Technology / Wholey Milk Company. 🐄 Nbryo is developing revolutionary embryo transfer technology that improves cattle breeding and has the potential to significantly boost productivity and sustainability in the beef and dairy industries globally - founded by Euan Murdoch and Nick Cameron. By enabling more selective breeding for desired traits in 7 days rather than 7 years, Nbryo's technology will help farmers improve genetics, animal welfare, and environmental outcomes. This translates to more profitable farms and rural communities. 🥛 Haelen is a groundbreaking processing method which delivers a safe to drink milk that is higher in nutrients, twice as digestible as any other cows milk, with a shelf life of 60 days and keeps that natural creamy taste. The patented Haelen method was invented by Naturo Founder and CEO, Jeff Hastings – a qualified agricultural engineer with over 30 years’ experience in global agribusiness. The Haelen method kills more pathogens than pasteurisation making it safer than traditional methods; and is the only known method that kills Bacillus cereus, a common pathogen in milk. 🔗 Read more about Nbryo at https://nbryo.com 🔗 Read more about Naturo at https://lnkd.in/g-PSxzqV 🌎 Mandalay's mission is to sustainably feed the world's growing population and the investments into both NBRYO and Haelen continue to support that important mandate operating at the intersection of agrifood technology and sustainability. 🙏🏻 Huge thanks to all of our investors including QIC and The NRMA and the amazing Mandalay team of Timothy Hui, Philippe Ceulen, Saskia Urlass and Elouise Comber for working so hard to get these deals over the line. 📰 A few more media links can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gaef5TWB https://lnkd.in/gX2qHFi7 #startup #agtech #foodtech #agrifood #venture #NBRYO #Haelen #innovation #foodsecurity #food #sustainability #Venturecapital

It was fascinating to hear all of the speakers from the #ASEAN region at the Australia-ASEAN Business Forum in Sydney a few weeks ago. The region continues to be in a growth explosion as the middle class across the geography continues to grow at unprecedented speeds. With the exception of Thailand and Singapore who have already broken the ceilings on their GDP growth, we are now seeing amazing signs from the emerging economies. Most Southeast Asia economies achieved the strongest quarterly performance in the past year with real GDP growth as a % below: - Vietnam 🇻🇳 6.9% - Philippines 🇵🇭 6.3% - Malaysia 🇲🇾 5.9% - Indonesia 🇮🇩 5.1% For comparison, Australia sits at around 1.5%, Singapore 2.9% and Thailand 2.3%. What does that mean for Australia, well a lot in fact. Demand for food security, Agtech applications, food systems and food tech, resources remain high. Australia also has sophisticated financial systems and processes that can be used as foundations to stimulate investment across the region (eg. R&D tax rebates, ESIC tax eligible investments and legislation like ESVCLP that allows for capital gains tax flow through. It’s wonderful to have champions like Francis Wong, OAM OSJ, Arjaree Sriratanaban, Justin McGowan GAICD, and others driving change and collaboration across ASEAN. As I’ve said many times before, it’s Australia’s turn to build the important bridges to the region that will drive the next generation of growth, if not, it may pass us all by. #Asean #economy #apac #policy #growth
